You can query within’s Toronto Resale Price Index as a public JSON document, then use jq to extract its timestamp, listing count, median asking price, and product segments. The figures summarize asking prices at covered Toronto boutiques—not completed sales or a measure of market value.
What the Toronto Resale Price Index measures
The index collects live listings from the Toronto resale boutiques it covers. Each listed price is the shop’s asking price in Canadian dollars; the publisher says it neither adjusts those prices nor includes sold listings or estimates transaction values. A question such as “How much do used Jordans cost in Toronto?” can therefore be answered only as a dated snapshot of the covered listings, not as a typical amount buyers paid.
The index page reported this snapshot on October 3, 2026:
| Measure | October 3, 2026 reading |
|---|---|
| Listings counted | 8,057 pieces |
| Median asking price | CAD $300 |
| Listed price range | CAD $5–$21,000 |
| Listings with a boutique-stated resale condition grade | 1,377 of 8,057 (17%) |
These are figures reported by within, not independently produced market statistics. The six boutiques named for that snapshot were Utopia (3,728 listings), Due West (2,223), WDLT117 (929), parlor23 (605), Outlined (471), and OUT (101). Their combined listings are the index’s covered inventory, not a census of all Toronto resale activity. See the publisher’s Toronto Resale Price Index for its coverage and current reading.

Retrieve the JSON and check its timestamp
The public JSON endpoint is https://shopwithin.co/index/toronto-resale.json. With curl and jq installed, request a compact selection of its headline fields:
curl -s https://shopwithin.co/index/toronto-resale.json
| jq -c '{countedAt, pieces: .counted.pieces, median: .counted.median, resaleShare: .counted.resaleShare}'
The output is compact JSON. For example, the September 27, 2026 article reading was:
Rank #2
{"countedAt":"2026-09-27T06:28:15.861Z","pieces":4629,"median":400,"resaleShare":30}
That output is historical, not a current reading. countedAt is a UTC timestamp; record it alongside any values you quote. The publisher says the JSON is updated whenever its index page is updated, so check the endpoint rather than relying on an older example.
Inspect product segments with jq
To inspect sneaker-related rows, filter the JSON’s segment list and print the fields of interest as tab-separated values. The following assumes the segment array is named segments and that rows have name, pieces, and median fields:
Rank #3
curl -s https://shopwithin.co/index/toronto-resale.json
| jq -r '.segments[] | select(.category == "sneakers") | [.name, .pieces, .median] | @tsv'
Segment field names and structure can change; if this query returns an error or no rows, inspect the document’s top-level keys and a sample row first:
curl -s https://shopwithin.co/index/toronto-resale.json | jq 'keys'
curl -s https://shopwithin.co/index/toronto-resale.json | jq '.segments[0]'
The September 27, 2026 article gave these dated sneaker examples: Jordan 1, 241 pieces and a CAD $350 median; Jordan 4, 134 and $350; Travis Scott, 132 and $450; and Kobe, 107 and $400. These are not the October 3 index-page counts, and should not be presented as current values.

Read the median and condition fields correctly
The publisher defines the median for an even-sized group as the lower of the two middle asking prices, rather than their arithmetic average. For example, with prices of $300, $350, $400, and $450, the reported median is $350, not $375. The publisher’s stated interpretation is that each displayed median is an asking price attached to an item.
Condition labels come from the shop. Listings without a stated condition still contribute to overall totals, but are omitted from condition-specific medians. A product title containing “vintage” is treated as referring to wash or era, not as a wear-grade label.
The publisher describes suppressing segment rows until they have at least 10 live pieces. It says pre-owned and stated-new medians each require at least three listings in their respective group. These thresholds mean a missing segment or condition median should not be read as a zero price; the subgroup may not meet the publication threshold.

Counts and medians change with inventory, and the index’s coverage has changed over time. The September 27, 2026 article reading reported 4,629 pieces, a CAD $400 median, and a 30% resale share, while the September history row separately showed 4,700 pieces and a $400 median. The October 3, 2026 index-page reading instead reported 8,057 pieces and a $300 median. These are separate dated snapshots; do not combine their counts or medians.
When comparing this index with another source, establish whether each reports asking or completed-sale prices, which merchants and geography it covers, the snapshot date, how it handles condition, minimum sample sizes, and its median method. A six-boutique asking-price snapshot is not directly comparable to an all-market transaction-price series without accounting for those differences.
Cite the publisher when reusing the figures
The index page says its figures may be reused under CC BY 4.0. For the October 2026 reading, it supplies this attribution: “Source: within, Toronto Resale Price Index, October 2026, shopwithin.co/index/toronto-resale”. Include the snapshot date when quoting a number and link readers to the index page; the JSON endpoint is useful for querying, while the page gives the publisher’s context and attribution.
