GameGrin’s follower-growth ranking for September 28–October 4, 2026, puts AION 2 first with 25,999 new followers, followed by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered at 10,810 and ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE at 10,664. These are reported follower gains—not Steam’s most-played or best-selling games.
How this Steam trending list is ranked
GameGrin says it ranks games by the number of followers they earned during the week, using follower growth as an indicator of interest in both old and new releases. Its article does not provide an independently verifiable Steam dataset or explain how it collected the counts, so the figures below should be read as GameGrin-reported gains for September 28–October 4, 2026.
This measure is different from concurrent players, which indicate how many people are playing at a particular time, and revenue rankings, which track sales performance. Steam’s Charts page separates weekly charts from live Top Sellers and Most Played views. SteamDB’s weekly Top Sellers chart is a revenue ranking, not a follower-growth list. Their date windows also differ: Steam showed a weekly chart dated September 29 when accessed October 7, while SteamDB displayed September 29–October 6.

What the follower gains suggest—and what they do not
New and unreleased games can rise before launch
The list spans older releases, recently released games, and upcoming or not-yet-dated titles. For example, GameGrin lists AION 2’s release date as October 5, one day after the measured week, while Family Time is listed for Q1 2027 and Deadlock’s release date is listed as “To be announced.” The ranking therefore captures attention as well as interest in games already available to play.
Follower growth is not a measure of sales or active players
A large gain shows that a game attracted followers in the covered period according to GameGrin; it does not establish how many copies it sold, how many people played it, or whether its attention will continue. Use follower gains to spot rising interest, a revenue chart to compare sales performance, and a concurrent-player chart to assess play activity. Check the source and date window before comparing lists.
