These five shows offer different ways into artificial intelligence: technology news, practical technical discussion, machine-learning interviews, business adoption, and research. “Top” here is an editorial selection based on that range and the audience each show serves—not an industry-wide ranking. The recommendations reflect sources published for a 2024 list, not a current ranking for 2026.

How these five AI podcasts differ

Podcast Best fit Focus and format Affiliation or perspective
Hard Fork Listeners who want accessible technology and AI news Broader technology stories, frequently including AI; news discussion The New York Times
Practical AI Listeners interested in how AI concepts apply in practice Technical topics and real-world scenarios The Changelog
The TWIML AI Podcast Listeners seeking expert discussion of machine learning Interviews covering AI and machine-learning fields Hosted by Sam Charrington; see the show page

Google DeepMind: The Podcast Listeners interested in AI research, science, and creativity Interviews and discussions about research and its applications Official Google DeepMind podcast

These are distinct editorial picks, not a measured ranking by audience size or quality. GeekWire ranked Hard Fork first in its own ten-show list on August 21, 2024; TechTarget and other roundups use different selection approaches, so those lists do not establish a shared consensus.

1. Hard Fork: accessible technology and AI news

Hard Fork is a New York Times technology podcast hosted by Kevin Roose and Casey Newton. It covers current technology stories and frequently turns to AI, but it is not an AI-only show. Its conversational news coverage suits listeners who want context and debate without starting with specialist machine-learning interviews.

GeekWire placed Hard Fork first in its August 21, 2024 contributor ranking and highlighted its humor, news, ethics, and suggested New York Times reading. That is GeekWire’s editorial judgment, not an objective industry ranking. TechTarget also reported that the show won the 2024 iHeart Podcast Award for best in tech. For show details, see TechTarget and GeekWire.

2. Practical AI: technical ideas tied to real use

Practical AI connects AI and machine-learning concepts with practical scenarios. TechTarget describes it as a weekly Changelog podcast hosted by Chris Benson and Daniel Whitenack, with subjects including neural networks, generative adversarial networks, and large language models. Exploding Topics likewise characterizes it as a show about technical topics and practical applications. Its mix is a good fit if you want to understand what a method is for, not just follow AI headlines.

See the Practical AI show page, as well as descriptions from TechTarget and Exploding Topics, for current episode information.

3. The TWIML AI Podcast: machine-learning interviews

Hosted by Sam Charrington, The TWIML AI Podcast is aimed at listeners who want deeper conversations with AI and machine-learning experts. TechTarget describes its coverage as including machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, and natural language processing, with interviews featuring researchers and industry leaders. It is a stronger match for technically curious listeners than for someone looking only for a quick weekly news roundup.

4. Me, Myself and AI: how organizations adopt AI

Me, Myself and AI focuses on why companies succeed or fail when putting AI to work. MIT Sloan Management Review and Boston Consulting Group produce the show, hosted by Sam Ransbotham and Shervin Khodabandeh. TechTarget describes interviews with leaders from organizations including NASA, Volvo, and Duolingo. Choose it for management and implementation questions rather than a survey of model architecture.

Rank #4
Rode NT1 Signature White Mic, PSA1+ Arm, AI-1 - Podcast Equipment Bundle
  • IN THE BOX: 1x Rode NT1 Signature Series condenser mic in white with SM6 shock mount, pop filter and XLR cable, 1x Rode PSA1+ boom arm in white with padded desk clamp and threaded desk mount, 1x Rode AI-1 USB audio interface with USB cable, 1x StreamEye Cans50 closed-back headphones with 1/4-inch adapter and bag. One of each - a single-host desk.
  • PHANTOM POWER BUILT IN, NO SEPARATE SUPPLY: The NT1 Signature runs on P48 and the AI-1 supplies switchable 48V over the same combo jack, so the mic's own XLR cable is the only link between them. The interface is USB bus-powered on Mac or Windows, which keeps the desk to one cable run.
  • 4 DBA SELF-NOISE FOR A QUIET ROOM: The HF6 capsule's noise floor sits at 4 dBA, so a soft voice records clean without pushing preamp gain into hiss. Cardioid pickup and 142 dB maximum SPL let the same mic take a whisper or a shout in an untreated room at 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
  • SILENT HEIGHT CHANGES MID-TAKE: The PSA1+ hides fully damped springs under a neoprene cover, so moving the mic during a recording makes no spring noise. 37 inches of horizontal reach, 34 inches of vertical travel and 360-degree rotation cover a wide desk, and the arm holds 0.2 lb to 2.7 lb.
  • WHITE ON CAMERA, CLOSED-BACK OFF IT: The microphone and the boom arm are both finished in white for a bright desk that reads clean on video. The Cans50 seal with 50 mm closed-back drivers at 32 ohms, so monitoring stays out of the capsule and the bundled 1/4-inch adapter is ready for pro headphone jacks.

5. Google DeepMind: The Podcast: research, science, and creativity

Google DeepMind’s official podcast explores AI research and its possible applications. Its 2024 archive includes Professor Hannah Fry’s episodes “Unreasonably Effective AI with Demis Hassabis” and “AI: Your New Creative Muse? with Douglas Eck.” The episode summaries address generative-model capabilities, creativity, attribution, and AI for science.

This is an institutional show from a research lab, not independent coverage of that lab. Keep that perspective in mind when weighing its discussions. Browse the Google DeepMind archive for its 2024 episodes and available show information.

Which podcast should you start with?

  • For broad technology news with regular AI coverage: start with Hard Fork.
  • For technical concepts and applied scenarios: try Practical AI.
  • For interviews about machine learning and research: choose The TWIML AI Podcast.
  • For company adoption and management decisions: choose Me, Myself and AI.
  • For research-lab perspectives on AI and science: explore Google DeepMind: The Podcast.

For an all-AI listening queue, note that Hard Fork also covers technology beyond AI. The other four have more explicitly AI-centered descriptions in the cited sources.
