BMI Calculator

Calculate your body mass index (BMI) in metric or imperial units, see the WHO weight category, and the healthy weight range for your height.

Enter your weight and height

For adults 18+. BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis — it doesn't account for muscle mass, age, sex or ethnicity.

About this tool

Enter your weight and height, in kilograms and centimetres or in pounds, feet and inches, to get your body mass index: weight divided by the square of height. The result is placed in the World Health Organization's adult categories — underweight (below 18.5), healthy weight (18.5 to 24.9), overweight (25 to 29.9) and obesity (30 or more).

The calculator also shows the weight range that corresponds to a BMI of 18.5–24.9 at your height, in the units you chose.

BMI is a quick screening measure for adults aged 18 and over. It doesn't distinguish muscle from fat or account for age, sex or ethnicity, so it is not a diagnosis. Children and teenagers need age-specific percentile charts instead. Talk to a doctor about what a healthy weight means for you.
