Bitmine Immersion Technologies said on October 5, 2026, that it acquired 15,112 ETH over the prior week, bringing its reported ether holdings to 6,016,414 ETH as of October 4 at 6:30 p.m. ET. Chairman Tom Lee said ether outperformed the S&P 500 by 6,832 basis points in the third quarter, a company-attributed comparison whose calculation details were not provided.
What Bitmine reported buying and holding
In its October 5, 2026 release, Bitmine reported buying 15,112 ETH during the preceding week. The company put its total at 6,016,414 ETH as of October 4 at 6:30 p.m. ET. At its stated valuation of $2,726 per ETH, that balance was worth roughly $16.4 billion.
Bitmine said its ETH holdings represented 4.9% of a 122.1 million ETH supply. The acquisition, valuation and supply share are figures reported by the company for those dates, not independently verified real-time totals.

Lee’s phrase refers to Bitmine’s claim that ether outperformed the S&P 500 by 6,832 basis points in Q3 2026. That is an attributed performance comparison, not a documented calculation readers can reproduce from the company’s release: the release does not provide the underlying price series or methodology.

Lee said in Bitmine’s press release: “The outperformance of ETH by 6,832bp relative to the S&P 500 in 3Q26 is notable considering the substantial macro headwinds that emerged in the quarter including a ‘hawkish’ Fed, surging oil, rise in global bond yields and general tightening of financial conditions. Quarter to date, ETH is outperforming by 6,832bp, dwarfing other macro assets.”
How much of Bitmine’s ETH is staked
Bitmine reported 5,067,309 ETH staked, which it described as 84% of its ETH holdings. The company also projected $363 million in annualized staking revenue using a 2.63% seven-day annualized yield. That revenue figure is a projection based on a short-period yield measure, not a statement of revenue already earned or a guarantee of future returns.

What the reported $17.4 billion total includes
Bitmine’s reported $17.4 billion treasury figure covered more than ETH. The company said the total included 214 BTC, stakes in Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings, and $643 million in cash and marketable securities, alongside its cryptocurrency holdings and other investments it calls “moonshots.” These are company-reported figures in the October 5 announcement.

The release describes accumulation goals, future acquisitions, staking projections, expansion of MAVAN and performance comparisons as forward-looking or risk-bearing statements. Bitmine identifies risks including digital-asset price volatility, operational issues and regulatory changes. Its announced holdings and projected staking revenue therefore should not be read as assurance of future asset values or income.
