Todd Beamer High School has canceled the remainder of its 2026 varsity football season. White River School District confirmed the decision after learning its October 1 homecoming game against Beamer would not be played. The varsity cancellation does not establish that all football activity at Todd Beamer has ended; possible JV or other games were still being explored, not confirmed, in the latest report.
What happened to Todd Beamer’s varsity schedule?
White River School District said it was notified that Todd Beamer had canceled the rest of its varsity football season. As a result, White River’s October 1, 2026 homecoming game against Beamer was canceled. The district said it could not find a replacement opponent on short notice.
The decision concerns Todd Beamer’s varsity schedule. It should not be read as confirmation that every level of football, including JV, had ended.
Why did Todd Beamer cancel the season?
A Yahoo Sports republication of The News Tribune’s October 2 report attributed the explanation to Todd Beamer coach Rodney McCurry. According to that report, injuries—including several broken elbows—left fewer than 30 players participating at varsity level. The report also said Beamer had started 0-4 and was not competitive.
