Verdict: TimeCamp is worth considering if you need to connect tracked hours with projects, budgets, attendance or billable work—not just run a basic timer. Its range of timer, manual-entry and automatic-tracking options, plus integrations with popular project tools, is appealing. The trade-offs are that some advanced features and less common integrations require paid plans, and the right setup depends on your workflow and monitoring preferences. This review is based on published product information and third-party assessments, not hands-on testing.

What is TimeCamp?

TimeCamp is time-tracking software that helps individuals and teams associate logged hours with projects and business reporting. It is software, not a physical time-clock device. The vendor advertises access through a browser, desktop apps for Windows, Mac and Linux, mobile apps and browser extensions. It also describes project profitability as part of its product positioning. TimeCamp’s product and pricing information

How does TimeCamp track time?

TimeCamp offers more than one way to log work. Those methods have different trade-offs: automatic tracking can reduce the need to start and stop a timer, while a timer or manual entry gives the user more direct control over what gets recorded.

Automatic tracking

The vendor advertises automatic time-tracking options. Automatic capture may suit people who often forget to start a timer, but it still needs review: users should confirm that recorded activity is assigned to the right project and reflects work they intend to log. The available source information does not establish tracking accuracy or how much correction a typical user will need.

Timer-based tracking

A timer lets a user start and stop a session while working. This is a straightforward fit when people can reliably switch tasks and remember to operate the timer. It can also make the boundary between work sessions clear, but missed starts or stops may require corrections.

Manual time entry

Manual entry lets users add time without relying on a live timer. It can work well for people who record hours in batches or need to correct a timesheet, but it depends on accurate recall and timely updates.

These are product capabilities and vendor claims, not results from independent testing. The Digital Project Manager’s review, updated September 24, 2026, also highlights automatic time capture, project budgeting and attendance management as useful for teams seeking more than a basic timer. It notes that users needing deeper customization may want more. The publication discloses that some links may earn commission. The Digital Project Manager’s TimeCamp review

What are TimeCamp’s limitations?

  • Advanced features can require a paid plan: TimeCamp’s own comparison identifies invoicing and budgeting as paid-plan features. Map your must-haves to the current tier details before choosing a plan. TimeCamp’s timesheet-app comparison
  • Some integrations may be tier-restricted: The vendor says less common integrations sit on higher tiers. An integration’s presence in the product does not by itself confirm that it is included in the plan you are considering.
  • Automatic tracking still needs oversight: Automatic capture does not remove the need to check project assignment and correct records. The available sources do not establish how accurately it captures time in particular workflows.
  • Customization may not satisfy every advanced workflow: The Digital Project Manager review identifies deeper customization as a possible need for advanced users. The Digital Project Manager’s TimeCamp review
  • Some important purchase questions remain unverified: The cited sources do not independently establish support quality, security certifications, billing experience, or complete plan limits.

Does TimeCamp monitor screens or keystrokes?

TimeCamp says: “TimeCamp does not log keystrokes, and taking screenshots is optional; it only works when the account administrator launches the feature.” The company also says activity tracking is optional and can be disabled by administrators. These are statements from the vendor, not an independent audit of every account’s configuration. TimeCamp’s FAQ

Who should consider TimeCamp?

It may fit

  • Freelancers who need to connect hours to projects or billable work.
  • Small teams that want time records alongside project, budget or attendance workflows.
  • Organizations whose staff already use one of the project-management tools TimeCamp lists, provided the required integration is available on their chosen plan.
  • Teams that want a choice between automatic tracking, a timer and manual entry.

Consider alternatives or test carefully if

  • You need a specific advanced feature or integration but have not confirmed its plan eligibility.
  • Your workflow depends on extensive customization and you have not verified that TimeCamp supports it.
  • Your team needs independently established evidence about tracking accuracy, support quality, security certifications or billing experience before adoption; the sources cited here do not resolve those questions.
  • Your organization has strict monitoring expectations and has not agreed on administrator settings and employee communication.

How to evaluate TimeCamp before choosing a plan

  1. List your essential outputs. Decide whether you need project reports, budget visibility, attendance records, invoicing or billable-hour tracking, and identify which are essential rather than optional.
  2. Choose the time-entry method that matches the team. Consider how often people change tasks, whether they can reliably operate a timer, and how much review automatic capture or manual entry would require.
  3. Verify integrations and tier eligibility. Check your exact project-management tools and any required custom workflow against the live plan matrix. Do not rely only on a general integration list.
  4. Set monitoring rules before rollout. Review administrator controls, decide whether any activity tracking or screenshots will be enabled, and communicate the policy.
  5. Calculate the cost for your actual seats and billing cadence. Use the current per-user price for the number of people who need access, and account for the difference between annual and month-to-month billing.
  6. Use the trial to test your real workflow. Check whether users can log and correct time, assign it to the right projects, produce needed reports and work with your integrations. TimeCamp advertises a 14-day trial of premium features; confirm current availability and terms with the vendor.
