Looking for a TikTok LIVE API to retrieve live comments, gifts, viewer counts, or stream status? TikTok’s public developer documentation reviewed here does not show a general-purpose endpoint or webhook event for those LIVE data. It documents other API and webhook capabilities, but does not establish a real-time LIVE data feed. Restricted or partner-only access remains unconfirmed, so check directly with TikTok before designing around it.
What the public TikTok API documentation says about LIVE data
TikTok’s Webhooks Events documentation lists authorization removal, Video Kit upload failure, video publishing completion, and data-portability download readiness. It does not list an event for a LIVE stream. TikTok’s Research API guide describes querying video data and fetching public account data; it does not establish a real-time LIVE stream feed.
That means the public documentation reviewed does not substantiate API access to live chat, gifts, concurrent viewers, or stream metadata. This is not proof that TikTok offers no private, restricted, or partner-only integration. If you need one of those capabilities, ask TikTok to confirm the specific data, eligibility, permissions, and terms in writing.

- Endpoint: An API URL your application calls to retrieve data or perform an operation. An endpoint only provides the fields and actions documented for it.
- Scope: A permission your app requests to access an API capability or sensitive data. TikTok says each Developer API requires a scope, and users may grant only some requested scopes or later revoke access. Scope approval alone does not give your app a user’s data; the user must authorize it.
- Webhook: A notification TikTok sends to your registered HTTPS callback when a documented event occurs. A webhook is not a universal stream of platform activity; it only covers the events TikTok has made available.
TikTok’s Webhooks Overview explains that webhooks can notify an application when events occur instead of requiring it to pull information through an API. That distinction does not imply that LIVE events are among the supported notifications.

How to set up a documented TikTok developer integration
- Register an app in the TikTok Developer Portal and configure the relevant product and requested scopes. The products and scope options available to an app can change; consult TikTok’s current app registration documentation.
- Submit the app for review before relying on production access. TikTok’s app registration process uses statuses including Draft, In review, Live, and Not approved. Its Developer Guidelines say there is no official review timeline or guarantee of approval.
- Obtain user authorization for the approved scopes your integration needs. Do not assume that an approved scope grants access to every user or data field.
- If using a documented webhook, register an HTTPS callback URL and implement its event handling only for events listed in TikTok’s documentation. This is general webhook setup, not a method for receiving LIVE-specific events.
- Verify and acknowledge notifications before processing them, as described below.
Webhook handling and signature verification
TikTok recommends validating the TikTok-Signature header. Its verification procedure uses the timestamp, a period, and the request body to construct the signed payload, then computes an HMAC-SHA256 signature using the app’s client secret. Follow the exact current procedure in TikTok’s webhook verification guide, including its timestamp tolerance guidance. A valid signature with a timestamp outside your accepted window may still be rejected as stale.
- Return HTTP 200 promptly so TikTok can record successful receipt.
- Make event processing idempotent: TikTok describes best-effort at-least-once delivery, so duplicate notifications must not trigger duplicate actions.
- Account for retries. TikTok says unsuccessful webhook deliveries may be retried for up to 72 hours.
- Validate the signature before trusting or acting on the request body.
These practices apply to documented webhook events. They do not create access to LIVE comments, gifts, viewer counts, or stream status if TikTok has not exposed those events to your app.

What remains unconfirmed
The public documentation reviewed does not confirm a general TikTok LIVE API, but it also does not rule out a restricted or partner-only integration. TikTok would need to confirm whether such access exists and specify its eligibility, available fields, authorization model, and operating conditions. Until then, treat any claim that a public endpoint provides real-time LIVE data as unverified unless it is backed by current official documentation.
