Delhi Police said three men were arrested after officers raided a godown in Budh Vihar, northwest Delhi, and seized about 683 kg of prohibited firecrackers valued by police at ₹35 lakh. Police said the men were loading the stock into a Hyundai Santro and onto a scooter. The arrests and alleged activity have been reported; they do not establish guilt.
What happened in Budh Vihar?
According to Delhi Police accounts reported by Hindustan Times on 1 October 2026 and The Times of India on 1 October 2026, officers raided a godown in Budh Vihar and found the men loading prohibited firecrackers into a car and onto a two-wheeler. Police said they seized the stock, a Hyundai Santro and a scooter.
Rohini Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Jaiswal told Hindustan Times: “Three people were apprehended while they were loading prohibited firecrackers from a godown into a Hyundai Santro car and on a scooter. A case was registered and the three were arrested.”
Who was arrested?
Hindustan Times identified the arrested men as Chand, 49, Ram Kumar, 47, and Ravi, 35, and reported that all three were residents of Rohini. It described Chand as a contractor who supplied construction materials and the other two as his employees. These details are attributed to that report and police account.

How much was seized, and what was it worth?
Police reported that the seizure weighed about 683 kg. Hindustan Times put its value at ₹35 lakh, attributing the figure to police. The published reports do not provide independent weighing or valuation records, so both figures should be understood as reported police estimates.
Where did the firecrackers come from?
Police reportedly traced the consignment to a factory in Rohtak, Haryana. Hindustan Times said the factory owner was sent a notice seeking an explanation and asked to join the investigation. That is an investigative lead, not a finding that the owner was responsible, and the reports do not establish that investigators have confirmed the source.

What is known about the case?
The reports say an FIR was registered at Budh Vihar police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Explosives Act. They differ in how they identify BNS subsections, and neither reproduces the FIR, so the precise section notation is not established in the published accounts.
