The title “Green Lantern” can refer to more than one television series, so check the questions’ stated scope: Green Lantern: The Animated Series and the distinct drama Lanterns are not the same show or continuity.
Which Green Lantern show does the quiz cover?
Start with the quiz’s questions rather than assuming every reference is to one program. DC’s official series page describes Green Lantern: The Animated Series, a 2011 CG animated action series. HBO Max’s March 5, 2026 announcement describes the separate drama Lanterns.

These are distinct television productions, so don’t use a detail from one to answer a question about the other unless the quiz explicitly asks about broader Green Lantern lore.
How to approach the quiz
- Identify the scope. Look for the series name or clues in the questions. Spaceflight, Kilowog, and the Red Lantern Corps point to the animated series; John Stewart and an Earth-based murder case point to Lanterns.
- Separate show facts from character lore. A question about a character’s ring or powers may draw on Green Lantern background rather than an event unique to a TV series. Answer according to the wording.
- Check what a wrong answer is testing. If the quiz gives explanations, note whether a correction refers to an episode, a series premise, or comics continuity. Those are related, but not interchangeable.
Green Lantern facts that can help with lore questions
DC’s Hal Jordan character entry says that Abin Sur entrusted his ring and Earth-sector duties to Hal. It describes Green Lantern Corps rings as fueled by the green energy of willpower. DC lists Hal’s abilities as hard-light constructs, instant weaponry, force fields, flight, durability, and alien technology; the entry gives his first comic appearance as All-American Comics #16 (1940). These are character and comics facts, not proof that a particular television episode contains the same details.

What the announced Lanterns series is about
HBO Max’s Latin American press room said on March 5, 2026 that Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan as intergalactic cops investigating a murder in the American heartland. The announcement named Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, and Kelly Macdonald among the stars and said the series was slated for August 2026 on HBO and HBO Max. That was a scheduled release window in the announcement, not confirmation of current availability; check HBO’s current listings for your country before planning to watch.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s 2024 greenlight announcement described an eight-episode, straight-to-series order. That is a production-order detail, not a measure of audience size or reception.
