There is a browser-native cosmic compass listed on Product Hunt. It shows where the solar-system planets are in real time for your location and the current moment, and it uses your device’s sensors to guide a 3D arrow. If you want something broader, the closest direct options are Stellarium, a computer planetarium, and Star Walk, a mobile sky guide. Product Hunt also lists AvoMap, Shadowmap, PeakVisor and Maps & Dioramas AR as alternatives, but those are adjacent tools built for other jobs, not one-to-one replacements.
Which There this article covers
Product Hunt hosts more than one product named There. This article covers the cosmic compass that locates planets. It does not cover the unrelated timezone-management tool with the same name. If the product you are looking at handles time zones or meeting schedules, you are on the wrong listing.
What the There listing claims
The Product Hunt listing describes three things:
- It shows real-time positions of solar-system planets based on your exact place and the current moment.
- It uses your device’s sensors to guide a 3D arrow in real time.
- It runs in the browser, with no installation and no account needed.
These are the listing’s own claims. No independent test has confirmed the precision of the sensor guidance or the accuracy of the planetary positions. The product website linked from the listing could not be read when this comparison was prepared, so pricing, browser compatibility, privacy handling, offline use and the calculation method are not established here. Check those details on the product site before relying on them.
Alternatives at a glance
The table below separates the two kinds of alternative. The first group is what Product Hunt lists under the alternatives heading. Those products do different jobs. The second group covers astronomy apps that overlap more directly with finding planets and the night sky.

Direct astronomy alternatives
These two products overlap most with what There does. They also do considerably more, so they suit a different kind of user.
Stellarium
Stellarium is free, open-source planetarium software for a computer. Its published description says it simulates the sky, includes the planets, and can control a telescope. It is the better choice if you want a full sky simulation, want to browse objects beyond the planets, or plan to connect a telescope. Because it is desktop software, it is not a quick, hold-up-your-phone orientation tool in the way the There listing describes.

Star Walk
Star Walk is a mobile sky guide. Its App Store listing describes real-time celestial tracking and AR viewing, with some features part of Star Walk Plus. It fits best when you want to point a phone at the sky and identify what you see. Check the subscription terms and current pricing in the App Store before you commit, because they can change.
