The Younger contest ranks changes in biological-age measurements; it does not make anyone chronologically younger. Its six-month format combines blood-based clocks with cognitive and physical measures and a facial-age estimate, but those scores are imperfect proxies—not definitive forecasts of health or lifespan.

What is the Younger contest?

Younger is a six-month competition created by neuroscientist and physician Christin Glorioso, founder and CEO of NeuroAge Therapeutics. It is designed to compare participants’ biological-age measurements over time. MIT Technology Review reported in 2026 that organizers expected roughly 500 participants over the run; about 120 had signed up when that report appeared, and only seven had entered baseline measurements.

The contest has two kinds of winners: the participant with the largest difference between chronological and biological age, and the participant who reverses biological age the most. These are scores defined by the contest’s measurements. A result does not change a person’s date of birth or, by itself, establish that their health or lifespan has improved.

How does the contest measure biological age?

A standard entrant provides a blood-spot sample for testing by TruDiagnostic. The report includes an overall biological-age estimate, pace of aging, and estimated biological ages for 11 organ systems, including the heart and brain. Participants also complete NeuroAge cognitive tasks for a brain-age score, submit physical measures such as grip strength, and upload selfies to a Harvard-developed app that estimates face age.

  • Comprehensive Results & Insights: Receive a detailed digital report that not only reveals your biological age but also provides context and guidance. We explain what was tested and what it means for your aging journey , including science-backed recommendations on how to lower your biological age through nutrition, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle changes. It’s like getting a personalized roadmap to improving your healthspan.

Ultra entrants pay for additional testing, including blood tests and aging clocks, MRI scans, and DEXA scans. These inputs are not interchangeable: a blood-based clock, a cognitive task, grip strength, and a face-age estimate each reflect different measurements, rather than four direct readings of one universally agreed biological age.

Are TruDiagnostic and NeuroAge measuring the same thing?

No. TruDiagnostic analyzes the blood-spot sample and reports age-related estimates, while NeuroAge tasks assess cognitive performance to produce a brain-age score. The contest brings those results together with physical and facial measures, but their different inputs mean their scores should not be treated as equivalent readings.

Can grip strength or face age change the score?

Grip strength and estimated face age are included as separate measures in the contest protocol. The available description does not specify how much each affects either winning category, or whether they are combined mathematically with the blood-based and cognitive scores. A grip-strength result or a face-age estimate should therefore not be assumed to directly change a TruDiagnostic biological-age result.

What does a biological-age clock measure?

Biological-age clocks are models that use indicators associated with aging. Depending on the clock, inputs can include chemical signatures on DNA, proteins, lipids, functional measures, or factors related to mortality predictions. There are more than 100 clocks, and they may capture different aspects of aging rather than one single underlying quantity.

That distinction matters when a clock assigns an age to one individual. Researchers do not fully understand what every clock captures, and the reliability of using these scores to assess one person remains contested. MIT Technology Review’s 2026 account cautions that the clocks are “not good enough for that yet.” A score is not a diagnosis, a comprehensive measure of health, or a reliable personal prediction of longevity.

What do the early leaderboard numbers show?

Early figures illustrate how wide-ranging the results can be, but they are preliminary observations from very few baselines. MIT Technology Review reported that one entrant, identified as @Fred, was scored 28.8 years below chronological age. Another public entrant, age 47, received a biological-age score of 68.1; her chair-rise measure corresponded to age 100.

Those figures come from different measures and should not be read as a direct comparison between the people, or as proof that one person has aged faster in a medical sense. With only seven baseline submissions at the time of reporting, they do not establish a typical result or demonstrate what participants will achieve over six months.

Is six months long enough to prove a real change?

Six months is the contest’s comparison period, not proof that any observed score change represents a durable change in aging. Short-term differences can be difficult to interpret when multiple clocks and functional measures are involved, particularly because each measure has its own inputs and may capture a different aspect of aging. The available contest description does not establish that its combined protocol has been validated to prove a lasting change in an individual’s biological age over this period.

Glorioso has said her goal is to “explain to the world what aging clocks are” and described an ambition to build “the world’s most comprehensive clock dataset.” That research-oriented aim is distinct from showing that a particular entrant has become healthier, extended their lifespan, or reversed aging in a broad biological sense.

What does participation cost?

MIT Technology Review reported in 2026 that standard entry cost $999 and ultra entry cost $4,499. The ultra tier includes additional tests and scans beyond standard participation. These are the prices reported for the contest at that time; the report does not establish whether they are still current or whether other fees apply.
