The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered adds Reforge, the game’s built-in transmog system. It changes an equipped item’s appearance without changing its stats. To use it, unlock the relevant master craftsman, collect the appearance you want, and apply it to gear in the same category.
What Reforge changes—and what it leaves alone
CD PROJEKT RED describes Reforge as a way to change equipment’s appearance “without affecting its stats.” The item you reforge keeps its original attributes; the selected appearance is cosmetic. Any Blood and Wine dye already applied to the equipment carries over. Reforge does not make every item dyeable: dye eligibility still follows the original dye system.
Reforge is a feature of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, not a native transmog feature established for older versions. The Remastered edition launched September 29, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. CD PROJEKT RED says eligible previous owners can upgrade for free within the same platform ecosystem. Unlock Reforge at Yoana or Hattori
Only two craftsmen provide the service: Yoana handles armor, and Éibhear Hattori handles weapons. You need to complete their respective questlines to unlock their master services.

- Yoana, armor: At Crow’s Perch in Velen, speak with Fergus Graem to begin Master Armorers. Complete the quest to unlock Yoana’s master-armor service. A contemporaneous guide gives level 24 as a recommendation and mentions an Ice Troll and an Archgriffin; those are quest guidance, not Reforge requirements. See Video Games Chronicle’s quest guide.
- Hattori, weapons: In Novigrad, complete Of Swords and Dumplings to unlock the master swordsmith service. The WitcherDB Reforge guide identifies Hattori as the weapon-reforging provider.
Collect the appearance you want to use
An appearance must be unlocked before you can apply it. The official rule is to add the relevant equipment or its crafting diagram to your inventory. The appearance collection may not register an item that remains in your stash, so move it into inventory once and check again if a look is missing.
Collecting a diagram is enough to unlock its appearance; you do not need to wear that item as your stat-bearing gear. The original item you select as the Reforge target is the one whose stats remain in use.

Reforge an equipped item
- Equip the item whose stats you want to keep.
- Visit Yoana for armor or Hattori for weapons after unlocking that craftsman’s service.
- Open Reforge, select the equipped target, then choose an unlocked appearance from the same equipment category.
- Review the preview and the displayed fee on the confirmation screen, then confirm if the appearance and cost are right.
Menu details and exact labels can vary by build or localization. The detailed menu observations here come from WitcherDB’s October 4, 2026 guide, which reviewed Steam build 25646871; use the confirmation screen in your own game as the authority for the fee and final result.

Appearances are category-specific: for example, a steel-sword look cannot be applied to a silver sword. The guide also reports that internal body meshes are excluded. These granular menu details are based on one Steam build and may differ with another build, save, or mods.

There is no single flat fee established for every item. The reported cost varies by equipment category and the quality of the chosen appearance. Check the amount shown on the confirmation screen before applying the change; that is the relevant price for the item and appearance you selected.

If Reforge is missing or an appearance is unavailable
- The craftsman has no Reforge service: Confirm that you completed Master Armorers for Yoana or Of Swords and Dumplings for Hattori.
- The desired look is not listed: Add that equipment piece or its crafting diagram to inventory. If it was in your stash, move it into inventory and check again.
- The look appears in the wrong list or not at all: Match the appearance to the target’s category—armor slot, steel sword, silver sword, or crossbow—and visit the appropriate craftsman.
- Your game has no Reforge option: Verify that you are running Remastered and check your platform and build. The official October 1, 2026, version 5.00b and 5.00c notes list technical and visual fixes but do not list a Reforge mechanic change. Consult the 5.00b notes and 5.00c notes; if your menu still differs, confirm the installed version for your platform.
