Yes. CD PROJEKT RED announced PC hotfix 5.00c on 1 October 2026, restoring the ability to launch The Witcher 3’s Classic (1.32) version. The fix is announced for Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net and Xbox Play Anywhere on PC. The Remastered, or Next-Gen, edition remains available on supported current-generation platforms.
What hotfix 5.00c changes
CD PROJEKT RED’s 1 October 2026 patch notes state: “Fixed an issue where it wasn’t possible to launch the Classic (1.32) version of the game.” This is a PC-focused fix for the five distribution routes named by the developer:

The same hotfix also addresses saving and loading when the Windows Documents-folder path contains special characters, pause-menu audio volume, several Velen lighting and saturation issues, problematic HairWorks changes, marketing-telemetry settings, and a GOG achievements-list issue.

The official FAQ says that, depending on the platform, players can revert to an earlier version. However, CD PROJEKT RED’s announcement and FAQ do not provide one universal launcher menu path. Open the current official instructions for your store or platform and look for its version, branch, or rollback controls after hotfix 5.00c has reached your installation.

- Confirm that your PC copy is installed through one of the five named distribution routes.
- Update the game so hotfix 5.00c is applied.
- Use the platform’s documented earlier-version or Classic-selection procedure.
- If the option is missing, allow time for storefront propagation and check that platform’s support status rather than deleting saves or reinstalling blindly.
Is Next-Gen Remastered still available?
Yes. The 29 September 2026 launch announcement lists Remastered for GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The support FAQ describes the upgrade platforms as PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
The distinction is important: hotfix 5.00c explicitly restores Classic launching on PC. The announcement does not say that PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S consoles or Nintendo Switch 2 receive the same Classic-version launch control. A separate 5.00b notice covers PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Play Anywhere PC changes, including lighting adjustments, parity work and DLSS on Xbox Play Anywhere PC, but it does not announce the Classic launch fix for consoles.
Classic versus Remastered: which should you use?
Choose Classic 1.32 when your setup depends on it
Classic is the earlier 1.32 build. It may be the appropriate choice when a particular mod collection, configuration or troubleshooting guide specifically requires that version. The official announcements do not guarantee compatibility for individual mods, so verify requirements with each mod author.

Remastered is the supported upgraded edition with its updated visual and technical features. The launch announcement characterizes it as a free upgrade for qualifying existing owners and includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions.

Know what happens to saves and achievements
The support FAQ says existing The Witcher 3 saves can be used in Remastered. Skills reset because of the skill-system overhaul, while achievements already earned from the base game and expansions carry over. That statement covers using existing saves in Remastered; it does not establish identical two-way compatibility between Classic and Remastered.

Remastered is presented as a free upgrade for qualifying owners, so buying the game again is not required merely to apply hotfix 5.00c. CD PROJEKT RED’s game-page FAQ says standalone expansions are delisted, the Base Game has been replaced by the Complete Edition, existing owners retain the expansions in their libraries with the content patched into the Base Game, and the Base Game without expansions is no longer purchasable. Store listings can vary, so check your platform’s current listing before making a purchase.
