Yes—the planned System Shock series for Australian streaming service Binge is not going forward, according to Nightdive Studios CEO Stephen Kick. He said the project had fizzled out before production. That ends the Binge version, not necessarily every chance of a future System Shock adaptation.
Is the System Shock TV show cancelled?
Nightdive Studios founder and CEO Stephen Kick said the series would not happen through Binge in an interview published by FRVR on October 8, 2026. Kick was an executive producer on the proposed show. Binge and Nightdive announced the project in 2021.

Kick said the company they had been working with had also licensed rights to other video-game properties, and he did not believe it still existed “in that form.” The report does not give an exact date when the project stopped or describe a formal cancellation notice, so the clearest supported description is that the Binge project fizzled and is no longer going ahead.
How far had the planned series progressed?
Kick said the team received preliminary first-draft scripts and that he had discussed them with the screenwriters. He described the proposed format as six to eight short installments of about 15 minutes each, rather than conventional half-hour episodes. These were development plans, not evidence of a completed production, an ordered season, or a released show.

Could System Shock still be adapted elsewhere?
Kick said he would like to see System Shock adapted for television, streaming, or film somewhere else. That is a hope, not confirmation that a replacement project is in development; no successor was named in the FRVR report.
Does this affect the System Shock game?
No. The television project’s status is separate from the game. The official System Shock Steam announcement archive lists a March 20, 2026 parity update stating that remake version 2.1 was live across platforms. That update documents continued maintenance of the game; it does not indicate that the Binge adaptation remains active.
