The Sony FX5 shipment delay may be connected to reports of a rear LCD panel that shifts or sits loosely, but Sony has not publicly confirmed that explanation. Early recipients described a physical fit concern—not a measured screen-response problem—and the available accounts do not establish how widespread it is.
What FX5 owners have reported about the rear LCD
PetaPixel reported on October 2, 2026, that some early recipients described the FX5’s rear monitor assembly as loose or able to move out of position. The report includes accounts of screens sitting slightly popped out and feeling “super wonky.” These are owner descriptions of a possible mechanical fit issue, not evidence of display lag.
One owner, Reddit user Vixelo, told PetaPixel that three cameras delivered to them in Mexico City in late August showed the same behavior. The owner said the screen could move enough to expose internal components. That account is direct testimony relayed by PetaPixel; it is not a controlled inspection or a verified defect rate. The owner also cautioned: “I obviously can’t say how widespread the issue is beyond the units I have personally seen, but the fact that all three of my cameras plus the rental units I’ve checked show the same behavior is concerning.”

These reports do not establish that all FX5 cameras have the issue, or even how many units are affected. No independently sourced prevalence study or statistic is available in the cited reporting.

Is the rear LCD issue causing the Sony FX5 delay?
That connection remains unconfirmed. PetaPixel reported that Sony had delayed FX5 shipments twice and that the release window was no earlier than late October 2026. As of the report’s October 2 publication, Sony had not publicly explained the shipment hold or linked it to the LCD accounts. The reported release window is time-sensitive and is not a current shipping guarantee.
Before Sony put shipments on hold in August, some preorders had been fulfilled in some regions, according to PetaPixel. The timing may prompt questions about a relationship between the reports and the delay, but it does not prove causation. Sony’s official ILME-FX5 support page identifies the camera and provides support and repair routes; it does not announce a defect, recall, affected serial-number range, or cause for the delay.

What to do if your FX5 screen moves or sits unevenly
Sony’s FX5 Help Guide identifies the rear component as the LCD monitor/touch panel and documents its monitoring functions and settings. It does not describe a physical looseness issue or provide an owner repair for one. A menu adjustment or accessory will not address a mechanical fit concern.

Look for whether the rear LCD sits flush and remains stable during ordinary handling. Do not press, pry, or disassemble it.
- Document what you observe. Record clear photos or video of the panel’s position and movement, and note the camera’s serial number and purchase region.
- Contact Sony or an authorized service provider. Use the regional Sony support route to ask what warranty or service options apply to your serial number. Sony’s U.S. support page includes product repair and contact links; coverage and process may differ by region.
- Confirm delivery details with the seller. If you are waiting for a preorder, ask for the latest confirmed delivery date rather than relying on the late-October window PetaPixel reported on October 2, 2026.
PetaPixel also quoted an owner who said Sony had offered to replace that person’s camera on October 19. That is one customer’s account, not a published replacement policy or assurance that other owners will receive the same remedy.
