To complete Silence the Idol in The Outlast Trials, prepare and sabotage Studios 1–3, recharge the power stations on the way to Studio 3, then disrupt the Studio 4 broadcast and escape to the shuttle. Use each studio’s live plan and objective markers as your guide: some prop positions and details may differ from remembered routes.

What to expect in Silence the Idol

The trial takes place in the Television Studio and was introduced with Red Barrels’ Season 6: Project Judas update on March 24, 2026. The update frames the objective as stopping Bob Vanier’s live political announcement. Red Barrels’ Project Judas patch notes confirm the launch context.

The main loop through the first three studios is to arrange the set according to the director’s plan, solve that studio’s switchboard puzzle, and sabotage the recording. You then escort the Idol to the next location. Studio 4 changes the task to disrupting the broadcast before you return to the shuttle.

How to complete the trial

1. Enter the Television Studio and reach Studio 1

Begin by infiltrating the studio and following the Idol toward Studio 1. A player walkthrough recommends entering through a window to the left of the main entrance, pressing the button inside, and following the signs toward Studio 1. Treat this as route advice rather than a guaranteed entry path; follow the objectives and in-game signage if your route differs. The player walkthrough describes this entry route.

2. Arrange Studio 1’s set

Check the director’s camera or Studio Plan to see the required arrangement. Move the highlighted props along their rails and rotate them to face the directions shown. The community walkthrough describes a modified stage light as Studio 1’s prop. Enemies may interrupt setup, so watch patrols while positioning it. If the live plan differs from a remembered arrangement, follow the plan for your run. The community walkthrough covers the Studio 1 setup.

3. Find the switchboard clues and sabotage Studio 1

When the setup opens access to the control room, use its spotlight with a blacklight to search the studio for hidden markings. Each clue identifies a letter and a number in a particular color group. The board’s groups are:

Button color Letters Numbers
Red A–E 01–05
Green F–J 11–15
Blue K–O 21–25

Enter the letter-and-number pairs on the board and confirm them only after finding the clues. The walkthrough reports that confirming a wrong connection shocks the player, so do not guess. Once the board is solved, pull the stage-light lever to sabotage the recording. The community walkthrough describes the blacklight clues and board.

4. Escort the Idol and repeat the setup in Studio 2

After sabotaging Studio 1, escort the Idol onward and follow the objectives to join him in Studio 2. Use that studio’s own plan to arrange its set, find its switchboard clues with the blacklight, enter the matching pairs, and sabotage the recording. The available walkthroughs do not establish one fixed prop arrangement for every run, so use the plan shown in your game.

A player route recommends going around the Television Studio and using the front entrance to reach later studios. It also reports that the Idol moves along the track when a reagent is nearby and that this movement is noisy. These are community observations, not guaranteed behavior; use your objective markers and in-game cues if the Idol or route behaves differently. The player walkthrough describes that route.

5. Recharge the power stations before Studio 3

On the way to Studio 3, the objectives call for recharging the power stations. A community walkthrough describes stations on upper floors and reports thresholds of 150 points for one or two players and 200 points for three or four players at the two stations it describes. Those figures are community-source values, not a complete difficulty-by-difficulty guide; use each station’s meter and the current objective prompt as the authority for your run. The community guide covers the station progression.

6. Set up and sabotage Studio 3

Studio 3 uses a medical-show set with several props. One sourced arrangement places a modified slit lamp facing the Idol, a nurse mannequin between the lamp and camera facing toward the Idol, a camera southwest and aimed northeast, and a light southeast and aimed northwest. Starting positions or markings may differ, so use the live Studio Plan if it conflicts with those directions.

After arranging the set, search carefully with the blacklight spotlight for the divided letter and number clues, enter the switchboard connections, and activate the sabotage. Then follow the objectives to escort the Idol onward. The community guide describes the Studio 3 progression; the walkthrough explains the switchboard clues.

7. Disrupt the Studio 4 broadcast and escape

Studio 4 replaces the set-and-sabotage sequence with a broadcast disruption. Use a spotlight to find marked audience figures and replace cheering cassettes with booing cassettes until the approval rating drops from 100% to 0%. The walkthrough describes the goal but does not establish every cassette location, so search the marked audience figures and follow the on-screen objective.

Once approval reaches zero, censor the Idol with the large double-bladed buzzsaw hidden in the talk-show desk. Then return to the shuttle, wait for it, and exit the trial. Confirm the target and interaction prompt in-game before using the saw. The Television Studio environment guide describes the finale.

If a clue or objective does not match

Red Barrels’ April 1, 2026 hotfix notes list fixes involving clues obstructed by props and cassette icons or inventory. Those notes document fixes at that time, not whether every later game build behaves the same way. Read the April 1 hotfix notes. Red Barrels’ update archive lists later updates through September 2026, but does not establish whether they changed this trial’s layouts, station thresholds, or enemy behavior.

  • If a switchboard clue seems missing, scan the area again with the blacklight spotlight and check around props.
  • If a memorized prop location conflicts with your objective or Studio Plan, follow the live in-game cue.
  • If a station’s displayed requirement differs from a remembered number, use its meter and objective prompt rather than assuming a fixed threshold.
  • If cassette icons or inventory behavior seem wrong, check the current objective and interaction prompts; the April hotfix documents earlier cassette-related fixes but does not establish current behavior.
