No official native Windows version of The Order: 1886 has been documented. The PC footage circulating in August 2026 comes from a special fork of the shadPS4 PlayStation 4 emulator. It can exceed 200 frames per second in the opening sequence and reach 60–84 FPS near the city on one high-end test system, but shader-compilation stutter, visual glitches and artifacts remain.
What was officially released
The Order: 1886 was announced as an original Ready At Dawn IP targeted exclusively for PlayStation 4. Sony’s release announcement set the worldwide launch for February 20, 2015, also exclusively on PS4. The game is therefore not a newly released PC title, and there is no cited Sony announcement of a native Windows port or a fixed 30 FPS PC edition.
Its story takes place in an alternate-history Victorian London, almost 40 years after the Industrial Revolution. Players join an ancient order of knights fighting Lycans—foes with lupine and feline traits—while a rebellion threatens the city.
What the current PC build actually is
According to DSOGaming’s August 14, 2026 report, a special shadPS4 fork can boot and play sections of the PS4 game. This is emulation: software is reproducing the PS4 environment rather than running a Windows-native build supplied by Sony or Ready At Dawn.
#1 Best Overall
That distinction matters for ownership, updates and reliability. Emulator footage should not be treated as proof that a retail PC edition exists, and it does not establish an official PC storefront listing, support policy or minimum system requirement.
Reported performance on PC
The published figures came from one test using an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 at 1080p. They are observations of that experimental build, not a universal benchmark.
| Game section | Reported performance | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Opening sequence | Sometimes above 200 FPS | Observed on the specified high-end system; shader stutters were still reported |
| City sequence | About 60–84 FPS | Performance varied substantially within the same emulation test |
| Overall build condition | Not a locked 30 FPS result | Visual glitches, artifacts and shader-compilation pauses were reported |
CPU and GPU utilization were described as well below full use during the test, indicating that the limiting factor may be elsewhere in the emulation stack rather than raw graphics horsepower. The figures should not be interpreted as a promised frame rate for other processors, graphics cards, resolutions or emulator revisions.

Native PC release versus PS4 emulation
| Aspect | Original PS4 release | Current PC emulation route |
|---|---|---|
| Platform status | Official PS4 game released globally on February 20, 2015 | Experimental shadPS4 fork; no documented native Windows release |
| Frame rate and image output | Designed for the PS4 release | Can exceed 200 FPS in the intro and reach 60–84 FPS near the city in one 1080p test |
| Stability | Uses the released console build | Shader-compilation stutter, glitches and artifacts reported |
| Hardware requirements | PS4 hardware | No authoritative PC minimum or recommended specification stated |
| Controls and display | PS4 controller and console display configuration | Potentially broader PC input and display options, dependent on emulator support and configuration |
| Physical extras | Disc and documented Collector’s Edition availability | No retail PC package or equivalent physical edition documented |
Can you play without a PS4?
Technically, the reported emulator build shows that some gameplay is possible on a PC without the original console. However, the available evidence describes an experimental compatibility achievement, not a finished replacement for the PS4 release. Expect uneven performance between scenes, compilation pauses and rendering defects, and do not assume that every chapter is equally playable.

The report also does not establish a simple, supported installation path, official game files, universal controller mapping or a stable release schedule. Those details can change with emulator builds and should be checked against the emulator project’s current documentation and the rights applicable to your game copy and region.
Where to get the legitimate release
The documented retail product is the PS4 game. Search retailers for The Order 1886 PS4 game, and confirm the disc’s region, condition, price and included materials before buying. A PS4 disc is not a native PC license.
Sony also documented a Collector’s Edition containing:

Bottom line for PC players
The Order: 1886 is not “now native on PC at 30 FPS.” As of the August 14, 2026 report, it is playable through a specialized PS4 emulator fork, with reported results ranging from above 200 FPS in the intro to 60–84 FPS near the city on a powerful test machine. Stutter and graphical faults remain, while the official release remains the PS4 version launched in 2015.
