The NLP Index was introduced in 2021 as a searchable way to discover natural language processing papers alongside their code and related research. KDnuggets reported more than 3,000 paper-and-code pairs at launch, with entries linking paper details to GitHub repositories and related-paper graphs. A later update described notebooks, datasets, and Google Colab notebooks joining the resource. Those are historical descriptions; the sources cited here do not establish whether The NLP Index remains available or maintained today.
What was The NLP Index?
The NLP Index was a research-discovery resource, not an NLP model or a tutorial. Its purpose was to make it easier to find papers, understand their ideas, locate associated code, and navigate the broader NLP literature. KDnuggets introduced it on April 29, 2021, attributing the launch description to Ricky Costa, then identified as Quantum Stat’s CEO. KDnuggets’ launch coverage described the index as bringing NLP papers and code into a searchable place.
What information did an entry include?
The launch-era description said an entry could connect several pieces of information useful when evaluating a paper and trying to follow its implementation:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Paper title, abstract, and authors.
- A link to the research paper.
- A corresponding GitHub repository.
- A Connected Papers graph showing related papers.
This arrangement was intended to connect the paper itself with code and neighboring research, rather than making readers search for each item separately. The feature description comes from the April 2021 launch coverage, not a present-day inspection.

How large was the index at launch?
KDnuggets reported more than 3,000 paper-and-code pairs at launch in 2021. That is a historical figure reported by the publication, not a current count or an independently audited total. In the same coverage, Costa was quoted describing “over 3,000 code repositories”; that wording is his attributed estimate, rather than a separate verification of the number. Read the April 2021 report.
What was added in the May 2021 follow-up?
In a May 27, 2021 follow-up, KDnuggets said the Super Duper NLP Repo had been merged into the index. The article described a broader collection involving notebooks and datasets alongside papers and code, including Google Colab notebooks that readers could launch. These additions are reported features from that 2021 article; the coverage does not establish that the notebooks or links still work. Read the May 2021 follow-up.

Can you use The NLP Index today?
Whether The NLP Index is currently online or maintained is unresolved in the available coverage. The cited reports document its launch-era features and a May 2021 update, but do not confirm present availability, working links, ongoing maintenance, or current pricing. Do not treat the 2021 feature descriptions or scale as a guarantee of what a visitor can access now.

How to interpret its historical value
The Index’s reported value was the connection between research artifacts: a reader could move from a paper’s metadata and abstract to its paper link, associated repository, and related-paper graph. The later report’s notebooks and datasets broadened that discovery picture. These descriptions explain what the service was presented to do at launch; they do not establish how it compared with other tools or whether any particular feature remains available.
