The strongest sword in Stardew Valley by listed base damage is the Infinity Blade, with 80–100 damage. It is forged from the Galaxy Sword, which deals 60–80 damage. The Infinity Blade also lists +4 weapon speed and +2 defense. Community wiki pages describe it as the upgraded form of the Galaxy Sword, so the path to it runs through the Galaxy Sword first.
Which sword has the highest base damage
Among the swords covered in the Stardew Valley Wiki pages consulted for this guide, the Infinity Blade has the highest listed base damage. The Galaxy Sword is the next strongest. The table below sets out the values as the wiki lists them. The wiki pages do not state a game version, so check these numbers against your installed version if a recent update has changed weapon balance.

“Most powerful” in this guide means highest listed base damage. Real combat results also depend on weapon speed, your defense, and the gems or enchantments you add, so the base-stat ranking is a starting point rather than a guaranteed outcome in every fight.
How to get the Infinity Blade
The Infinity Blade requires the Galaxy Sword as its ingredient, so you need to complete that step first.

Step 1: Obtain the Galaxy Sword
- Obtain a Prismatic Shard.
- Go to the Three Pillars in the Desert.
- Stand on the center tile while holding the Prismatic Shard. This is the step the wiki describes for receiving the Galaxy Sword.
The wiki also states that the Galaxy Sword can be purchased at the Adventurer’s Guild once you have obtained it at the Desert. Once you have it, it stays in your inventory like any other weapon.
Step 2: Gather the forge ingredients
- One Galaxy Sword
- Three Galaxy Souls
- 60 Cinder Shards
Step 3: Forge the Infinity Blade
- Go to the Forge on floor 10 of the Volcano Dungeon.
- Place the Galaxy Sword, three Galaxy Souls, and 60 Cinder Shards in the Forge.
- Confirm the forge. The result is the Infinity Blade.
After you earn Combat Mastery, you can craft a Mini-Forge. The wiki says it works the same way as the main Forge and can be placed in a location of your choice, which saves the trip to floor 10 of the Volcano Dungeon for future forging.

What the Infinity Blade adds over the Galaxy Sword
The gain is a 20-point rise in the top of the damage range, from 80 to 100 compared with the Galaxy Sword’s 80 at the top of its range. The lower end rises from 60 to 80. Both swords list +4 weapon speed, so the Infinity Blade’s advantage in the wiki’s stat lines comes from damage and defense rather than speed.

The wiki states that each point of weapon speed reduces action time by 40 milliseconds, and it describes around +4 as a practical limit for swords. Because both swords already sit at +4, speed does not separate them in the listed values.

Forge gems and enchantments
Melee weapons, including the Infinity Blade, can be forged up to three times using gems. The wiki describes two gems that matter most for this comparison:
- Ruby: adds 10% to the minimum and maximum damage per forge level.
- Emerald: improves weapon speed.
Enchanting a weapon costs one Prismatic Shard and 20 Cinder Shards and applies a random enchantment. These options let you shape a weapon toward damage or speed, but they start from the base values above. The wiki entries consulted describe these forging options for melee weapons in general and do not say how they interact with the Infinity Blade specifically, so check the in-game forge description if you want to confirm the exact result after forging.

Choosing between the two swords
If your goal is the highest listed base damage, the Infinity Blade is the answer. The Galaxy Sword is the better choice if you want the sword sooner, since it is reached earlier in progression and does not require the Volcano Dungeon forge. The Galaxy Sword is also the step you must complete before the Infinity Blade becomes possible, so you will always own it on the way there.
