Galaxy S26 prices in the US have risen in two stages. At launch in February 2026, Samsung priced the S26 and S26 Plus $100 above their comparable predecessors, while keeping the Ultra’s starting price unchanged. On October 1, Tom’s Guide reported another increase: 256GB models at $999 for the S26, $1,199 for the S26 Plus, and $1,399 for the S26 Ultra. Those October prices are reported figures, not confirmed here by a current Samsung price list.
How Galaxy S26 prices changed
The February launch prices and October reported prices are separate changes. Comparing the same US models and storage tiers makes the difference clear:

The February launch increase
Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 series on February 25, 2026, with general availability planned for March 11. In the US, the S26 launched at $899 and the S26 Plus at $1,099—each $100 more than its comparable prior-year model. The S26 Ultra launched at $1,299, unchanged from the prior Ultra. The October reported increase
Tom’s Guide reported on October 1 that the 256GB S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra prices had risen to $999, $1,199, and $1,399, respectively. Its report also listed higher prices for selected larger-storage configurations, shown above. These should be treated as reported US prices: the source set does not include a current official Samsung price list confirming them.
Why did the Galaxy S26 price go up?
No direct Samsung explanation for the October adjustments is established in the available sources. Component costs or other possible explanations should not be treated as confirmed causes. Samsung’s launch messaging does not answer the question: UK Vice President of Product and Marketing for Mobile Experience Annika Bizon said, “The most powerful phones should also be the easiest to use,” a general statement about the phones rather than their pricing. What Samsung’s March price sheet does—and does not—confirm
Samsung Electronics America’s US MSRP sheet, effective March 2026, lists the unlocked 256GB Galaxy S26 Ultra at $1,299.99. That is a useful official pre-October reference, but it does not confirm an October price or establish the current price of every model and storage tier. How to check the price before you buy
- Choose the exact phone: S26, S26 Plus, or S26 Ultra.
- Choose its storage capacity; a price for 256GB does not establish the price for 512GB or 1TB.
- Check a current US Samsung or retailer listing and confirm whether the displayed amount is an unlocked price, a carrier offer, or a promotion.
- For trade-in or carrier deals, read the eligibility rules and timing; do not compare a conditional offer directly with an unlocked retail price.
