The 2027 Emmy Awards will stream live on Prime Video in September, and the Television Academy says the ceremony will be free to watch. The six-year deal makes Prime Video the Emmys’ exclusive global home starting in 2027; it does not change where to watch the 2026 ceremony.
Where to watch the 2027 Emmy Awards
Prime Video is the announced exclusive global home of the Emmys beginning with the 2027 ceremony. The Television Academy says viewers worldwide will be able to watch the live broadcast for free. It has not yet published a country-by-country availability list or detailed instructions for watching on particular devices. The Academy’s announcement says Prime Video reaches more than 240 countries and territories, but that platform-wide figure is not a guarantee that the event will be available without regional exceptions in every location.

Will you need a Prime subscription or Amazon account?
No Prime subscription is required: the Academy and Associated Press reporting describe the 2027 ceremony as free to view. The announcement does not say whether viewers will need to sign in to an Amazon account, so account-access requirements remain unspecified. The Associated Press report also describes the stream as free.
When are the 2027 Emmys?
The Academy says the ceremony will air live in September 2027. It has not announced an exact date or start time, so viewers should not rely on a specific calendar date yet.
Where to watch the 2026 Emmys
The Prime Video agreement starts in 2027 and does not alter the 2026 viewing plan. The Academy’s 2026 viewing page lists NBC for the live 78th Primetime Emmy Awards and Peacock for streaming.

The six-year agreement replaces the rotating “Wheel Deal” arrangement among ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC, which concluded with the 2026 telecast. The Academy says the partnership will include year-round collaboration and new viewer experiences, but it has not identified specific additional programs or formats. Nor does the announcement establish that the move will increase the Emmys’ audience; that remains an expectation, not a measured result.
