Choose Forza Horizon 5 if you want a Mexico-set festival campaign built around expeditions, Horizon Stories, challenges, and a mix of competitive and co-op modes. Choose The Crew Motorfest if you prefer a Hawaiian setting, themed Playlists that guide your progress, and Ubisoft’s evolving seasonal content. Neither is an evidence-backed universal winner: platform support, online requirements, and the specific edition you plan to buy may decide it.

Forza Horizon 5: a broad festival campaign
Forza Horizon 5 takes place in Mexico. Its official description highlights varied biomes, dynamic weather, expeditions, Horizon Stories, and hundreds of challenges. The emphasis is on a wide-ranging festival experience with multiple kinds of activity rather than a single themed sequence. See the PlayStation product page for the current PS5 description.

The Crew Motorfest: themed Playlists
Motorfest is set in a Hawaiian driving playground. Its campaign is organized around themed Playlists, making those curated sequences a natural fit if you like progressing through activities with a particular theme. Ubisoft’s Starting Guide says some Playlist races can use loaned vehicles and that completed Playlists can be replayed as customizable events.
Ubisoft’s current Motorfest page also outlines Year 4 content plans, including additional islands. Those are evolving plans, not a basis for assuming every announced feature is already available. The page’s dated news feed lists Season 11 as available October 7, 2026; check the live page for the latest status.

Which multiplayer approach fits your group?
Forza Horizon 5
Forza’s official launch overview describes Horizon Open as a competitive option and Horizon Tour as co-op. Those modes make it the clearer fit if your group wants to choose between racing against other players and joining a cooperative tour. The PS5 FAQ says cross-play is available among platforms; confirm current support and the modes you plan to use before buying.
The Crew Motorfest
Ubisoft describes cross-play and cross-progression for Motorfest, along with online races and Live Competitions for up to 32 players in its Starting Guide. Cross-progression may matter if you play on more than one supported platform. Before you commit, check that your friends’ platforms and your preferred activities are supported together in your region.

Check platform and internet requirements first
Ubisoft currently lists Motorfest for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The official Forza materials list PS5, Xbox, and PC. Motorfest therefore has the broader listed console-generation reach in these sources, but availability can vary by territory. Use the store page for your exact platform and region to confirm the current listing.

For PC buyers, Ubisoft’s US store listing gives these Motorfest minimum requirements: Windows 10 64-bit; Ryzen 5 1400 or Core i5-4460; Radeon RX 480 8 GB or GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB; 8 GB RAM; and 40 GB storage. These are the displayed minimum specifications, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or experience on every system. Verify the listing before purchase.
Compare the editions by included content
Edition names alone do not tell you which game is the better value. Compare the precise contents on the store for your platform and region: lineups and availability can change.

Forza Horizon 5 editions
The current US PlayStation listing distinguishes Standard, Deluxe, and Premium. It describes Deluxe as including the Car Pass; Premium includes the Car Pass, Hot Wheels, Rally Adventure, Welcome Pack, and VIP Membership. The listing says the Car Pass makes 42 cars available in Premium. That figure describes an edition benefit, not a total vehicle count for the game. Check the PlayStation listing for the current contents on PS5.

Ubisoft currently promotes Headliners and Grand Garage editions. The official game page advertises over 60 unlocked vehicles for Grand Garage. Treat that as a bundle claim, not a directly comparable count against Forza’s Car Pass figure. Check the exact edition contents and platform listing before checkout.

Make the choice based on what you want to play
- Pick Forza Horizon 5 if Mexico, a broad festival campaign, expeditions and Horizon Stories, or the Horizon Open/Horizon Tour pairing appeal most.
- Pick The Crew Motorfest if Hawaii, themed Playlists, replayable customizable events, cross-progression, or Ubisoft’s evolving seasonal roadmap are the stronger draw.
- Let platform availability decide if you play on an older console generation or Switch 2; verify the specific regional store listing.
- Let connectivity decide if you need to play without a permanent internet connection. Ubisoft explicitly requires one for Motorfest; investigate Forza’s current requirements separately.
- Compare actual edition contents if you want expansions, vehicle packs, or other bonuses, rather than relying on Standard, Deluxe, Premium, Headliners, or Grand Garage labels.
Neither game’s cited official descriptions establish a universal advantage in handling, graphics, map quality, campaign length, total car count, or value. Those depend on criteria not settled by promotional product pages, so choose by setting, event structure, multiplayer needs, platform, and the edition you will actually get.
