The Clay Impress’s specialty cutters, texture tools and earring-post embedder are aimed at polymer-clay jewelry making, and GeekDad reviewer Dakster Sullivan gave the products she tried a positive review. Her experience suggests the tools can make detailed designs more approachable, but texturing and silk-screen work still take practice. She received selected tools—not the company’s full Deluxe Polymer Clay Starter Kit—so her review should not be read as a test of that kit or a controlled comparison with other brands.
What Sullivan tried—and what she did not
In her September 25, 2026 GeekDad review, Sullivan describes a selection of The Clay Impress products she received to try. The selection included three cutters—the Dragon Bookmark Charm, Book Stud and Soaring Dragon—along with a Dragon Scales texture roller, Botanical Bookshelf silk screen, Mushroom Meadow transfer sheets, Vintage Book Text texture sheet, 4 mm earring-post embedder and 1.5 mm thickness guides.
That is a jewelry-oriented assortment, particularly suited to making earrings and decorative charms. It is not the same package as the separately listed Deluxe Polymer Clay Starter Kit, and the review does not provide a controlled comparison with other tools.

Cutters and small details
Sullivan reports that a wire helped open small holes in the dragon design. She also used dry-brushed gold mica powder to bring out detail. These are her reported techniques and results, not independently replicated findings. The experience illustrates a practical point for intricate designs: a cutter can create the outline, but small openings and finishing effects may still call for extra tools and careful handling.

Color and baking
Sullivan says her first color mix matched the accompanying PDF recipe and did not visibly change color after baking. That is one reviewer’s observation about her project; the review does not establish that every recipe or clay behaves the same way.
Texture roller and silk screen
The texture roller took adjustment. Sullivan found that rolling in one direction once avoided what she called a “glitched effect.” Her silk-screen process used acrylic paint, followed by immediate rinsing in cool water. The reviewer’s account makes clear that these techniques are learnable, but not necessarily effortless on the first attempt.

The Clay Impress lives up to their name and definitely impresses me with the quality of their products, ease of use, and especially in their instructions and tutorials for use.” That is her subjective conclusion about the selection she tried—not a guarantee of results for every user or a verdict on the full starter kit.

The strongest fit is someone who wants to make polymer-clay jewelry and values purpose-built shapes, surface treatments and a tool for embedding earring posts. Beginners may benefit from the instructions and tutorials Sullivan praised, while still expecting to practice with detailed patterns and textures.

How the Deluxe Starter Kit differs
The official Deluxe Polymer Clay Starter Kit listing describes a much broader bundle than the products in Sullivan’s review. It includes clay, findings and general tools in addition to specialty surfaces and cutters. The listing showed the kit at $229, reduced from $318, and marked “Sold out” when checked on October 4, 2026. Those figures and availability describe that listing on that date; they do not establish current stock or price.

The Deluxe Kit’s listed embedder is 5 mm, while Sullivan’s received selection included a 4 mm embedder. Treat those as distinct specifications rather than interchangeable descriptions.

Care and setup to consider
The Clay Impress’s manufacturer guidance says to remove clay from cutter details gently and avoid prying sideways, which could break resin cutters. It recommends hand-washing tools with soap and water or isopropyl alcohol. For silk screens, it advises rinsing immediately in cool water so acrylic paint does not dry in and clog the mesh.
The company’s starter-kit guide recommends smooth ceramic or glass surfaces for rolling and cutting. It distinguishes oven-safe ceramic tile from picture-frame glass and glass craft mats, which it says should not go in an oven. The guide also advises starting with simple cutters before moving to detailed designs. These are manufacturer recommendations, not independent safety testing.

- Check the exact package: the reviewed selection and Deluxe Kit differ, including in embedder size and the kit’s inclusion of clay and findings.
The Clay Impress says it is based in Hawaii, began in 2020, makes its tool range in-house and has a patent-pending tool designed to embed earring posts in studs. Those are company statements, not independently verified findings.
