The Boba Teashop: Refill was revealed as a world premiere at Insider Gaming’s October 2026 28 Games Later: A Horror Showcase. It is a first-person psychological horror game about Maya, a young woman working at a new branch of Risa’s boba teashop, where orders, drink preparation and customer service gradually give way to workplace pressure and unsettling encounters.
What is The Boba Teashop: Refill?
Refill pairs a boba-shop work routine with psychological horror. Players take orders, prepare drinks with tea, milk, boba and other ingredients, seal them, serve customers and keep the shop clean. Customer reviews, manager Vanessa’s scrutiny, uncomfortable conversations, odd noises and strange encounters increasingly disrupt that routine, according to the announcement.
The announced setting includes the customer area, preparation counter, office, storage room, corridors, bathroom, rear exit and parking area. Changes in lighting and sound, along with Maya’s worsening perception, are intended to make familiar parts of the workplace feel less trustworthy. How does Refill connect to the original game?
Serafini Productions and Mike Ten, creator of the original The Boba Teashop, are behind the project. The developers describe Refill as a standalone story with a new protagonist, location and narrative, set in the original game’s world. Maya works at a newly opened branch connected to Risa’s teashop.

In an interview with Insider Gaming, the developers said newcomers do not need to know the original game to enjoy Refill. They also said the game is designed to unfold across one week: players first learn the shop’s routine, then experience that routine being disrupted.
What did the developers reveal about its story and production?
The developers have been working on the project since 2025, according to their October 1, 2026 interview. They described balancing the work simulation and horror as a central design challenge. Their short pitch captures the contrast: “Your shift starts like any other. Take the order. Make the drink. Keep the customer happy. Try not to make mistakes.”

The developers say Refill expands on the original’s presentation with full voice acting, facial animation and more elaborate cinematics. They also report a cast of more than 20 people; that is a developer-provided figure, not an independently audited count.
Several creators connected to the original game are expected to appear as customers. The interview names Yotobi, Knite and Suzi Hunter, known as The Sphere Hunter; the reveal article also names Kodomo. The interview says some creators lend their voices to their in-game counterparts.

Its announcement establishes the premise and several intended features, but it does not provide a release window or enough information to assess how the finished gameplay feels.
