The biggest battery in Ryobi’s 18V ONE+ line is the PBP1112, the 18V ONE+ 12Ah Lithium EDGE Battery. It gives the longest runtime the system offers, and Ryobi says it works with any 18V ONE+ product. That makes it a strong option for people who run out of charge mid-task, but it is not automatically the right purchase. Whether it is the upgrade you need depends on your tool, how the extra weight feels in your hand, how you charge, and how often you actually run out of power.
Which battery Ryobi calls its biggest
Ryobi’s US product listing for the PBP1112 describes it as the highest-capacity battery in the ONE+ system and states: “The highest capacity RYOBI ONE+ battery delivers the longest runtime in the ONE+ system.” The same listing describes tabless cell technology, IntelliCell electronics, COOL-CORE PRO thermal management and an onboard LED fuel gauge. These are manufacturer descriptions, and the listing carries no publication date, so treat them as current product claims rather than independently verified specifications.
The model number matters. Ryobi sells several 18V ONE+ packs with similar names, and the 12Ah EDGE pack is not the same product as the older or regional 12Ah packs sold under different model numbers. When you shop, match the model code printed on the battery label (PBP1112 for the US EDGE pack) rather than the Ah figure alone.
What the performance claims do and do not establish
For the EDGE battery, Ryobi’s Canadian listing claims up to 2X more power and up to 10X more runtime. Both figures are Ryobi’s own marketing claims. Neither is tied in the listing to a named tool, test method or work task, and no independent side-by-side runtime test of the PBP1112 against a 6Ah pack was located for this article. The honest reading is this: the 12Ah pack has more stored energy than smaller ONE+ packs, so it should run longer on the same tool under comparable load. How much longer depends on the tool’s draw, the job, and the battery’s age and temperature.

Capacity also does not change how a tool handles. A tool that is limited by its motor, gearing or blade size will not work faster because the battery is larger. Runtime rises; cutting speed, torque and maximum output may not.
Check tool compatibility before you buy
Ryobi’s US listing says 18V ONE+ batteries work with any RYOBI 18V ONE+ product. Ryobi Australia’s listing for its regional 18V ONE+ HP 12Ah battery names specific models that the pack is not suitable for. Those exclusions come from a different region and a different pack, so they do not prove that the US PBP1112 has the same limits. They do show why you should not assume that every 12Ah pack behaves the same in every model.

Before buying, do the following:
- Find the exact model number of your tool, usually printed on the nameplate or in the manual.
- Check the tool manual and Ryobi’s current product guidance for your region for battery exclusions or notes.
- Confirm that the battery label reads PBP1112 and that the seller’s listing matches your region’s product.
Weight and handling
A larger pack is heavier, and the added weight sits at the bottom of the tool. Ryobi Australia lists its regional 18V ONE+ HP 12Ah battery at 1.56kg. That figure belongs to the Australian product and is not confirmed as the US PBP1112’s weight, so weigh the battery itself or check the US listing before deciding how it will feel on an overhead drill or a long session of trimming.

Handling matters most on tools you hold above shoulder height, tools used in one position for long periods, and tools that are already front-heavy. For a bench-mounted saw or a stationary task, the extra weight is rarely a problem. For a lightweight tool used on a ladder, it can be.

Charging: the 55-minute figure has a condition
Ryobi Canada says the 12Ah EDGE battery can reach a ready state in as little as 55 minutes when used with the fastest RYOBI ONE+ charger, which is sold separately. That time applies to that charger. Slower chargers will take longer, and the figure should not be read as a time for every ONE+ charger or every battery.
If you already own a standard charger, expect a longer wait. If you plan to use the battery as your main supply, a faster charger may be worth buying alongside it.

Comparing the 12Ah pack with a 6Ah pack
The US PBP007 is an 18V ONE+ 6Ah Lithium Battery. Ryobi describes it as providing longer runtime and more power than smaller packs for a variety of ONE+ products. It is lighter, usually cheaper, and easier to store and carry.

Choosing the right pack: a decision framework
- Choose the 12Ah pack if you regularly run a tool until the battery is empty, work through long cuts or drilling sessions, or prefer to swap batteries less often, and your tool is confirmed compatible.
- Choose a smaller pack if the tool is light, used overhead or on ladders, or only used for short tasks where a 6Ah pack already finishes the job, and you value weight and cost more.
- Consider a second smaller pack if you want a lighter option for quick jobs and the 12Ah pack for longer ones.
- Hold off until you have checked your tool’s model-specific guidance and confirmed the charger you will use.
Prices change, and the US listing prices visible when this article was prepared may already be out of date. Compare current prices on Ryobi’s site or at your usual retailer before deciding, and do not treat any single price as a fixed benchmark.
What you still need to verify
No independent US measurement of the PBP1112’s weight, no controlled runtime test against smaller ONE+ packs on named tools, and no regional confirmation of model exclusions for the US pack were located for this article. If any of those points decide your purchase, check the tool manual, the printed label and a hands-on test in a shop or with a tool you already own before you commit.

The verdict is straightforward. The 12Ah EDGE battery is Ryobi’s highest-capacity ONE+ option and suits people who need more runtime on a compatible tool. It is not an automatic upgrade for every tool or every user, and the extra size and charge time are real trade-offs.
