The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is the clearest value pick among the new, unlocked phones covered here: Samsung lists its 128GB model at $249.99. If you would rather prioritize a larger high-refresh display and tougher water- and dust-resistance ratings, consider the Motorola Moto G Power (2026), listed at a $299.99 MSRP. Prices and availability can change, so confirm the live price, unlocked status, and compatibility with your carrier before ordering.

Samsung Galaxy A17 5G: best value pick

Samsung lists the unlocked 128GB Galaxy A17 5G at $249.99. Its product specifications include a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery, rear cameras rated at 50MP, 5MP, and 2MP, and storage expansion up to 2TB. The display and microSD expansion make it a strong fit for buyers who want a large screen and room for photos or downloads without moving to a more expensive model.

Samsung says a charger is not included in the box. If you do not already have a compatible USB-C charger, include that setup cost when comparing the phone’s real price. Samsung’s current US product material consulted for this guide does not confirm a specific OS and security update duration. A reviewed guide describes support of up to six years, but check Samsung’s current policy for the exact US model before making update longevity a deciding factor.

Motorola Moto G Power (2026): best for durability and a big screen

Android Authority lists the Moto G Power (2026) at a $299.99 MSRP. Its review describes a 6.8-inch Full HD LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5,200mAh battery, IP68/IP69 resistance, a headphone jack, expandable storage, and an ultrawide camera. Those features make it a practical option for someone who values a large, smooth-scrolling screen, wired headphones, or added resistance to water and dust.

The trade-offs matter: the review describes everyday performance as serviceable rather than especially smooth, calls the chipset outdated, and says Motorola commits to two Android updates. It is therefore a conditional pick for practical features, not a clear winner for speed or long software support. Ryan Haines of Android Authority summed up the review’s positioning this way: “The Moto G Power (2026) isn’t the most exciting phone at $300, but it might be the most practical.”

Motorola Moto G (2026): a different, lower-priced model

Motorola’s US listing shows the unlocked Moto G (2026) at $249.99, discounted from $299.99. Do not confuse it with the Moto G Power (2026): they are distinct models, and the Power’s $299.99 MSRP does not describe the regular Moto G. Tom’s Guide describes the Moto G (2026) as an unlocked phone below $200 and reports more than 19 hours in its battery test, while noting that the display is dim. Those claims concern Tom’s Guide’s review of the Moto G, not the Power, and its reported sale price differs from Motorola’s current listing. Check the current listing and review conditions before relying on either price or battery-test result.

How to choose between them

  1. Check the real price and unlocked status. Confirm the exact model and storage configuration, whether it is new and unlocked, and the checkout price after any discount, tax, or other charges. An MSRP, a temporary sale, and a review’s price description are not interchangeable.
  2. Verify carrier compatibility. Check the manufacturer’s compatibility information and your carrier’s requirements for the exact model before buying. An unlocked listing alone does not guarantee that every carrier feature or network band will work.
  3. Match the screen to your priorities. The A17 has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display; the Moto G Power (2026) has a 6.8-inch Full HD LCD with 120Hz refresh. Choose based on the screen characteristics you value rather than size alone.
  4. Consider storage and what is in the box. The A17 starts with 128GB and supports expansion up to 2TB. The Moto G Power review also lists expandable storage. Samsung says the A17 does not include a charger, so account for one only if you do not already own a suitable USB-C charger.
  5. Weigh durability and software support. The Moto G Power review cites IP68/IP69 resistance but only two Android updates. For the A17, confirm Samsung’s current US update policy for the exact model; the consulted US product page does not establish a support duration.
  6. Set realistic camera expectations. The A17’s listed rear camera setup includes a 50MP main, 5MP, and 2MP camera. The Moto G Power review identifies an ultrawide camera. Megapixel counts and camera labels do not establish low-light quality or overall results, so consult model-specific sample photos if camera performance is decisive.

Phones at the budget boundary or above it

The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G is listed at $349.99 before eligible trade-in. That is exactly the $350 boundary, not strictly under it, and tax may take the purchase total higher. Treat it as a boundary case rather than a straightforward under-$350 recommendation. The Galaxy A37 5G is listed at $449.99.

The Google Pixel 10a is listed in the consulted reviews at $499.99, so it does not qualify as a new phone under $350 on the available pricing. It may be worth watching for a discount, but verify the current price and whether the offer is for a new, unlocked device before comparing it with the picks above.

What “best” means in this price range

The models above are sourced candidates, not the result of a controlled comparison of every current US phone under $350. Choose by your own priorities and verify details on the linked listings: carrier fit, screen, battery, camera results, storage, update policy, resistance ratings, charging, and box contents can matter more than a single headline specification. Official prices and promotions can change, so check them again at purchase time.
