The right instant camera depends on whether you want every shot to print, the option to choose pictures first, or a printer for photos already on your phone. For a compact hybrid, consider the Instax Mini Evo; for larger Instax prints, the WIDE Evo; for an analog, full-size Polaroid workflow, the Polaroid Now Generation 3. If you only want phone printing, a dedicated Instax printer may be the better fit.
Choose your workflow first
Instant cameras fall into two useful groups. An analog camera exposes film when you take a picture, so each exposure uses a sheet whether or not the result is a keeper. A hybrid camera captures digitally and lets you select an image to print. A dedicated smartphone printer skips the camera and prints pictures from your phone.

Compare the formats before choosing a camera
Instax and Polaroid use different film systems; their films are not interchangeable. Fujifilm’s current catalog groups its cameras and printers around Instax Mini, SQUARE, and WIDE formats. Polaroid’s Now Generation 3 is designed for full-size Polaroid film. Choose by the size and shape of print you want to keep, then confirm the exact compatible film for the model you buy.

Best hybrid camera for compact prints: Instax Mini Evo
The Mini Evo combines a digital camera with a Mini-format printer. Fujifilm documents direct printing of photos sent from a smartphone, as well as a feature for saving printed images to a smartphone. That makes it a flexible choice if you want one device for taking pictures and printing selected phone photos.
It uses Instax Mini film, whose reported image area is 1.8 × 2.4 inches; the overall print is larger because that measurement excludes the border. The hybrid workflow lets you decide which captured images merit film, but it does not establish that the camera produces better pictures than other models. Best hybrid for larger Instax prints: Instax WIDE Evo
The WIDE Evo combines a hybrid camera with a smartphone-printer workflow, so you can select images rather than print every capture. Fujifilm calls it its first WIDE-format hybrid camera and smartphone printer. WIDE film measures 86 × 108 mm, which Fujifilm describes as twice as wide as Mini film; the larger format can be useful when you want more room for a group or a broad scene.
Fujifilm also lists a wide-angle mode. That is a feature description, not evidence of a comparative image-quality advantage. Check the WIDE Evo product page for the manufacturer’s current feature and compatibility details.

Best analog Polaroid option: Polaroid Now Generation 3
The Now Generation 3 is a straightforward analog choice for someone who wants full-size Polaroid film and a print with each exposure. Polaroid lists two-lens autofocus, a self-timer, and double-exposure modes. Its product page also describes an updated exposure system; that is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent comparative test result.
Do not assume features carry across every Polaroid generation. Analog Instax cameras and printer-only choices
If you want an analog camera, Fujifilm’s catalog provides options across the three Instax formats. Its listed models include the Mini 13 and Mini 99, SQUARE SQ40, and WIDE 400. Availability and naming can differ by market, so a catalog entry does not guarantee local stock.
If you already take photos on a phone, Fujifilm also lists printers by format: Mini Link 3 and Mini Link+, SQUARE Link, and Link WIDE 2.
