Apple Home users have third-party options in all three categories, but compatibility is model- and feature-specific. Apple’s current compatible-accessories catalogue names four cameras, two thermostats, and three locks; it does not establish that every listed product supports every Apple Home feature a buyer may want. Check the exact model, installation fit, network requirements, and features exposed in Home before choosing.

Start with compatibility, not the product category

Apple Home is Apple’s smart-home platform, not a single line of cameras, thermostats, or locks. The products below are made by other manufacturers and appear in Apple’s current HomeKit-compatible accessories catalogue. That catalogue is a useful shortlist, but it is not a substitute for checking a device’s specific features and requirements.

There are two separate questions to answer before buying: does this exact model work with Apple Home, and does Apple Home expose the particular function you need? A manufacturer’s app may offer controls or settings that are not available in Home. Conversely, a product appearing in Apple’s catalogue does not, by itself, tell you its power requirements, storage arrangements, HVAC compatibility, door fit, or access methods.

Matter can make supported accessories usable across smart-home platforms, but it is not a blanket guarantee of category or feature support. Apple’s current Matter guidance lists locks and thermostats as supported accessory types; cameras are not on that list. For cameras, confirm Apple Home compatibility for the exact model rather than relying on a general Matter claim. Apple says a Matter accessory added to Home can be used through the Home app, Siri, Control Center, and third-party HomeKit apps.

Aqara 2K Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera G100, HomeKit Secure Video, White
  • 2K Clarity Day and Night: The G100 Wi-Fi Camera films in 2304×1296 (3MP) resolution with a 140°FOV and a wide-angle f/1.8 lens for superior image quality. The G100 also includes 940 nm infrared lighting, ensuring covert illumination without alerting potential intruders. (Note: Both Spotlight and IR night vision modes must be manually enabled in the app and do not turn on automatically.)
  • Indoor/Outdoor Ready IP65 Protection: With durable, weather-resistant IP65-rated housing, the G100 surveillance camera is both an indoor camera and outdoor security camera, offering reliable home surveillance for flexible indoor or outdoor mounting. Withstands rain, dust, and rugged environments.

It also supports Lens Obstruction Detection, custom audio files, and 2-way audio (Notes: Only in Aqara Home App).
  • HomeKit Support & Wide Compatibility: The Aqara G100 Camera provides full support for HomeKit Secure Video (Note:Requires an active iCloud subscription and an Apple Home hub. HomeKit limits resolution to 1080p. When connected to both Apple and Aqara Home, the G100’s resolution in Aqara Home will also be limited to 1080p, but will return to 1296p if HomeKit is disconnected.) The G100 has some of the best third-party ecosystem support on the market, it can stream to Google, Alexa compatible smart displays, and even Home Assistant via the RTSP protocol, making it easier to interact with visitors or check in on loved ones.
  • Flexible Storage Methods: Record 24/7 with a microSD (up to 512GB, not included) or NAS. Time-lapse mode compresses 24-hours of footage to 15-second clips (wired connection and microSD card required). Automatically store detected events with end-to-end encryption in the cloud with a HomeGuardian subscription, ensuring protection against data theft and guaranteeing your privacy at home.

That cross-platform convenience still depends on the particular product and feature. A Matter label is not a promise that every control in a manufacturer’s app will appear in Apple Home, nor does it establish that the device suits a particular home. Check the Apple listing and the manufacturer’s documentation for the exact model and regional version. If a feature is essential—such as a camera notification, a thermostat schedule, or a particular way to unlock—look for explicit confirmation that the feature works through Apple Home.

Apple Home-compatible cameras

Apple’s catalogue currently names the Aqara G100 Indoor Camera, Aqara G5 Pro Outdoor Camera Hub, Eve Cam indoor camera, and Eve Outdoor Cam floodlight camera. These names identify models to investigate, not a ranking or confirmation that all four provide the same recording and notification features in Home.

Model listed by Apple Placement or design indicated by the name What to verify before buying
Aqara G100 Indoor Camera Indoor camera Power and placement, recording and storage approach, and which Home video functions the exact model supports.
Aqara G5 Pro Outdoor Camera Hub Outdoor camera; the name also identifies it as a hub Outdoor installation and power, the hub’s role and requirements, and the Home features available for this model.
Eve Cam Indoor camera Power, recording and storage, and support for the specific notifications and video functions you want in Home.
Eve Outdoor Cam Outdoor floodlight camera Mounting and power, floodlight placement, and which Home video features the exact model supports.

The Home app describes live viewing across multiple cameras, activity notifications, and support for HomeKit Secure Video. Those are platform capabilities, not proof that each camera listed above supports every capability. Check the model’s current product documentation and Apple Home feature listing before relying on a particular recording, notification, or viewing function.

Choose for location, power, and recording

  • Indoor or outdoor: Match the camera to the location and check its installation requirements. A model described as an outdoor camera or floodlight camera should not be treated as interchangeable with an indoor camera.
  • Power and mounting: Confirm how the camera is powered and whether the intended mounting location can support that setup. The Apple catalogue entries alone do not specify installation details.
  • Hub role: The G5 Pro’s name includes “Hub.” Determine what that hub does and whether it introduces a separate setup or network requirement for the functions you want.
  • Video features: Verify live view, activity notifications, and recording support for the precise model. Do not infer HomeKit Secure Video support from Apple Home compatibility alone.
  • Storage: Compare the product’s recording and storage approach, including any conditions or requirements, rather than assuming every Home-compatible camera stores video in the same way.

Think about the actual view you need before comparing model names. A camera aimed at an entryway, for example, may need a different mounting position and power arrangement from one watching an indoor room. For an outdoor camera, confirm that the proposed location and installation match the device’s instructions; the catalogue name alone does not establish what wiring, mounting hardware, or other setup is required.

HomeKit Secure Video is a named Apple Home feature, not a synonym for every kind of camera recording. Check whether the exact camera supports it and what setup or plan is required. Also distinguish viewing a live stream from saving recordings and receiving activity notifications: support for one should not be taken as confirmation of the others. If you need a particular recording history, storage location, or notification behavior, verify it for the model before purchase.

Apple Home-compatible thermostats

Apple’s current catalogue names the ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium and Aqara Thermostat Hub W200. Apple also features the ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium on its Home app page. The available catalogue information does not provide a complete side-by-side specification for these models, so the practical first comparison is whether each one suits your heating and cooling equipment and whether it exposes the controls you need in Apple Home.

Model listed by Apple Apple Home evidence Check before purchase
ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium Listed in Apple’s compatible-accessories catalogue and featured on Apple’s Home app page HVAC compatibility, wiring, regional availability, sensor arrangements, and which schedules and controls are available in Home.
Aqara Thermostat Hub W200 Listed in Apple’s compatible-accessories catalogue HVAC compatibility, wiring, regional availability, hub and network requirements, and the controls exposed in Home.

Check the heating system and wiring first

A thermostat that works with Apple Home can still be unsuitable for a particular home. Before ordering, compare the exact model’s compatibility information with your HVAC equipment and existing wiring. Also check regional availability: a product’s platform compatibility does not establish that it is sold or supported in your country, or that its configuration fits local systems.

Eve Cam Smart Indoor Camera
  • Home Monitoring with Instant Notifications: Keep a close eye on your home with the indoor cam Eve Cam and get notifications on your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch when something is up
  • Maximum Privacy and Data Security: Protect your privacy with maximum data security Eve Cam exclusively supports Apple HomeKit Secure Video; End-to-end encryption ensures only you can view live and recorded video
  • Smart Motion Detection and Automation: Record every motion automatically or distinguish between people and pets (People/Pet recognition) and automatically deactivate your camera when someone is home
  • System Requirements: Eve Cam requires iPhone or iPad with the latest version of iOS/iPadOS and also a Home hub is required (HomePod or Apple TV with tvOS 15) and iCloud+ (not included)
  • Wi-Fi Compatibility: Make sure that either the 2.4 gigahertz band or the 5 gigahertz band is enabled on your router. All Wi-Fi settings please see images

Do not assume a thermostat works with every heating arrangement simply because it supports Matter or appears in Apple’s catalogue. If the product documentation does not clearly match your system, identify your current thermostat wiring and HVAC type and ask the manufacturer or a qualified installer before replacing anything.

For an existing installation, use the thermostat manufacturer’s compatibility information to compare your system and wiring with the exact model, rather than relying only on the name of your old thermostat. If the wiring or heating arrangement is unclear, stop and get qualified advice instead of guessing. The fact that a thermostat can communicate with Apple Home does not answer whether it can control your particular equipment safely and correctly.

Compare sensors and controls by the features you will use

Check whether sensors are included or optional, what they measure, and whether they can affect the temperature readings or schedules you care about. Then verify which scheduling and automation functions are accessible through Apple Home and which, if any, require the manufacturer’s app or another component. The catalogue listing does not establish that both thermostats offer the same sensor package or the same Home controls.

Make a short list of the everyday controls you expect to use—such as changing the temperature, checking the current setting, or relying on a schedule—and confirm that each is available in the way you plan to control the device. If you intend to use sensors in more than one room, check whether the necessary sensors are included, optional, or dependent on another product. A product-page feature list may describe the vendor’s full ecosystem, while Apple Home exposes a different set of controls.

A 2026 buying guide identified Honeywell Home X2S as a possible Matter and Apple Home-compatible option and said it was then available only in North America. That is a time- and region-qualified mention, not a guarantee of current availability or status. Check the current listing and exact model before considering it, particularly outside North America.

For shoppers asking, “Any recommendations for a HomeKit-compatible thermostat (UK-based)?”, regional fit is the first filter, not an afterthought. The catalogue entries do not establish which models are sold or suitable in the UK. Confirm local availability and compatibility with the home’s heating system and wiring; do not assume that an option described as compatible in one region transfers to another. Honeywell Home X2S is not a safe assumption for a UK shortlist based on a 2026 guide that reported North American availability at that time.

Apple Home-compatible smart locks

Apple’s current catalogue names the Aqara Smart Lock U400 Deluxe Kit, Level Lock Pro with Apple Home Keys support, and Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus Home Key Lock. The catalogue identifies a shortlist, not a universal fit: door construction, deadbolt format, installation style, access method, and network setup all matter.

Model listed by Apple What the catalogue name establishes What to verify
Aqara Smart Lock U400 Deluxe Kit Apple lists this smart-lock kit Door and deadbolt fit, installation type, available access methods, and any hub or connectivity requirements.
Level Lock Pro Apple lists the model with Apple Home Keys support Door fit, supported access methods for the exact version, connectivity, and behavior if your phone or network is unavailable.
Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus Home Key Lock Apple lists the model with Home Key in its name Door and deadbolt fit, included access methods, connectivity, and requirements for remote or other connected functions.

Match the lock to the door and the way you enter

First determine whether a candidate replaces existing lock hardware or fits around an existing deadbolt as a retrofit. Then check the exact door and deadbolt measurements and installation requirements against the product documentation. A smart lock is not a practical option if its required hardware does not fit the door, even when the model is compatible with Apple Home.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Decide which entry methods matter to your household: for example, Home Key, a keypad, a fingerprint reader, a physical key, or another method. The Apple catalogue identifies Home Key support for the Level Lock Pro and the Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus Home Key Lock, but the available model information does not establish a complete list of entry methods for each lock. Confirm the exact configuration rather than inferring it from a product-family name or kit label.

Check whether the product is a full replacement or a retrofit before comparing prices or installation effort. Those designs can require different work and depend on different existing door hardware. Measure and inspect the door and deadbolt using the manufacturer’s instructions, and check any stated requirements for the door thickness or lock format. Do not assume that a model’s Home Key support means it will fit your existing deadbolt or include every access method you want.

Plan for connectivity and fallback access

Find out whether the lock uses Wi-Fi, Thread, a vendor hub, or another bridge, and distinguish local entry from functions that depend on a network or remote connection. Consider how you will unlock the door if a phone is unavailable, a network is down, or a connected service cannot be reached. The catalogue names do not establish the fallback behavior of each model.

Before committing, decide which backup entry method your household needs and verify that the exact lock configuration provides it. Also separate basic operation at the door from remote features that may depend on connectivity, an Apple home hub, or a vendor component. A listing that says Home Key does not answer every question about keypad, key, fingerprint, or offline access, so confirm those details in the installation and product documentation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

As another example, TechRadar’s review of the Lockly Visage Zeno Series describes quiet operation and says Wi-Fi is not required after HomeKit setup, while also noting installation complexity. Those are that publication’s review observations, not a guarantee for another lock or an independent test of the models in Apple’s catalogue. Check the exact product’s installation guide and connectivity documentation before choosing.

That Lockly example illustrates why model-specific reviews can add useful context without replacing a fit check. A favorable note about quiet operation does not establish door compatibility, and an observation about Wi-Fi after setup should not be applied to other locks. Treat installation difficulty and connectivity behavior as things to verify for the exact product and household.

Network, hubs, privacy, and video storage

Understand what Thread and a home hub require

Thread accessories have network requirements distinct from simple catalogue compatibility. Apple identifies Apple TV 4K, HomePod (2nd generation), and HomePod mini as examples of Thread-enabled home hubs, and recommends using a home hub for the best experience. Apple’s Thread guidance says a Thread-based accessory requires a Thread-enabled home hub for the complete setup it describes.

Before buying a Thread-based product, verify that the home hub you own is a supported Thread-enabled model and that the accessory’s setup instructions match your configuration. Do not assume every Apple TV or HomePod model has Thread, or that a vendor hub and an Apple home hub serve the same role.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Check the network path in the manufacturer’s instructions instead of treating “smart-home compatible” as a connectivity specification. Wi-Fi, Thread, a vendor hub, or a bridge can impose different setup requirements. A vendor hub mentioned in a product name may serve a product-specific purpose; it should not be assumed to replace a Thread-enabled Apple home hub or to provide the same functions.

Separate Home privacy statements from camera-specific terms

Apple states that Home app data is stored so Apple cannot read it and that accessory communications are end-to-end encrypted. That describes Apple’s stated approach to Home data and accessory communication; it does not settle every camera-specific question. Review the exact camera’s recording plan, storage location, feature availability, and any account or service requirements before enabling recording.

Apple’s privacy statement is useful context for the Home platform, but buyers should still read camera-specific terms. Establish where recordings are stored, what service or plan may be required, how activity notifications work, and whether the desired recording feature is available for that precise model. Do not infer a camera’s retention period, subscription cost, or storage arrangement from Apple’s general privacy language.

A practical pre-purchase checklist

  1. Write down the exact model and regional version. Similar product names do not prove that every version has the same Apple Home support or hardware.
  2. Confirm the feature you need in Apple Home. Check the exact model for the required camera view or notification, thermostat control, lock access method, or automation support.
  3. Check physical fit and installation. Match cameras to placement and power, thermostats to HVAC and wiring, and locks to the door and deadbolt format.
  4. Identify the network path. Determine whether the product uses Wi-Fi, Thread, a vendor hub, or a bridge, and verify any required Apple home hub.
  5. Check what happens when something is unavailable. For locks, consider phone, network, and fallback entry. For cameras and thermostats, distinguish local functions from those that depend on network access or a service.
  6. Review the current product documentation for your region. Confirm availability, included accessories, optional sensors, recording terms, and installation instructions for the exact SKU before purchase.

There is no meaningful cost comparison in the Apple catalogue entries alone, and the product details here do not establish current prices, subscription charges, or installation fees. Compare the complete setup rather than the device price alone: whether the camera requires a particular recording arrangement, a thermostat needs optional sensors, or a lock calls for a hub or professional installation can affect what you ultimately spend. Confirm current terms and what is included with the exact model in your region.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which option should you shortlist?

For cameras, start with the four models Apple lists and narrow them by indoor or outdoor placement, power, hub role, and the particular video functions available in Home. For thermostats, compare the ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium and Aqara Thermostat Hub W200 only after verifying HVAC and wiring compatibility. For locks, use the Aqara U400, Level Lock Pro, and Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus as candidates, then eliminate any that do not fit your door or support the entry and connectivity setup you want.

Apple’s catalogue is the strongest starting point for identifying products with Apple Home relevance, but it does not provide enough model-level specification to rank these products on performance, price, or reliability. The right choice depends on matching the exact device to your installation and confirming the exact feature in Apple Home—not on choosing the longest feature list or assuming Matter makes every device interchangeable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Matter mean a camera will work in Apple Home?

No. Apple’s current Matter accessory guidance lists locks and thermostats as supported types, but not cameras. Check Apple’s listing and the manufacturer’s documentation for the exact camera model and the Home video features you need.

Which Apple Home-compatible cameras should I compare?

Apple’s current catalogue names Aqara G100 Indoor Camera, Aqara G5 Pro Outdoor Camera Hub, Eve Cam, and Eve Outdoor Cam. Compare placement, power, hub role, recording and storage approach, and explicit support for live viewing, notifications, or HomeKit Secure Video.

Which thermostat works with Apple Home in the UK?

Apple’s current catalogue names ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium and Aqara Thermostat Hub W200, but the catalogue does not establish UK availability or suitability for a particular heating system. Confirm local availability, HVAC compatibility, wiring, and which controls the exact model exposes in Home before buying.

What should I check before buying an Apple Home smart lock?

Confirm the exact lock fits your door and deadbolt, determine whether it is a replacement or retrofit, and check which entry methods are included. Verify connectivity and hub requirements, plus how you can enter if your phone or network is unavailable. Apple lists Aqara U400, Level Lock Pro, and Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus Home Key Lock.

Does Apple Home compatibility guarantee every product feature is available in the Home app?

No. A manufacturer’s app may expose settings or functions that Apple Home does not. Confirm that the exact model supports the specific camera, thermostat, lock, or automation feature you plan to use through Home.

The Bottom Line

Use Apple’s catalogue to build a shortlist, then verify the precise feature and installation fit for your home. For cameras, check the model’s Home video support rather than assuming Matter covers cameras. For thermostats, match HVAC, wiring, and region. For locks, confirm door fit, access methods, connectivity, and a fallback way in.
