There is no single best 27-inch monitor for everyone. For a premium mix of gaming and general use, RTINGS’ top pick is the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM; for a work-focused 4K display, consider the Dell U2725QE; and for a lower-cost QHD option with Mini LED backlighting, consider the AOC Q27G3XMN. The right choice depends on your workload, computer, room lighting, and need for laptop connectivity.

Best 27-inch monitors by use case

The picks below reflect the cited publishers’ reviews and recommendations, not independent testing for this article. RTINGS frames its guide around products available in the United States; local models, stock, and prices may differ. Its recommendations consider its review, visitor feedback, price, and availability, so treat them as starting points rather than a universal ranking.

Monitor Best fit Key facts and trade-offs
ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM Premium mixed use and gaming RTINGS lists a 27-inch QD-OLED panel, 4K (3840 × 2160) resolution, and 240 Hz refresh rate. It delivers deep blacks in a dark room, but its blacks can look purple in bright rooms. OLED also carries a burn-in risk with prolonged display of static elements.
Dell U2725QE Work-oriented 4K alternative RTINGS identifies it as a 4K monitor with work-oriented features. The guide says its picture quality is weaker than the ASUS in some respects, including gray-looking blacks around bright highlights. Confirm the exact port and feature set for the regional model before buying.
Acer Nitro XV275K P5biipruzx 4K gaming with laptop charging RTINGS reports native 160 Hz at 4K and a dual mode of up to 320 Hz at 1080p, plus USB-C power delivery up to 90 W. Its hub is smaller and it lacks Thunderbolt compared with some alternatives in the guide.
Dell S2725QC Lower mid-range 4K IPS and laptop use RTINGS reports a 27-inch 4K IPS display, 120 Hz refresh, a USB hub, and USB-C power delivery up to 65 W. Its HDR performance is weak and it has no local dimming.
AOC Q27G3XMN Budget QHD with Mini LED RTINGS highlights bright HDR highlights and useful glare fighting from its Mini LED backlight. It has no USB ports, is less sharp than the listed 4K options, and can show black smearing in fast dark scenes.
MSI MPG 271QRX Competitive PC gaming PC Gamer describes a 27-inch 1440p OLED with 360 Hz refresh and a 0.03 ms response time. It is highly gaming-focused, and PC Gamer notes its extreme performance comes at a high price.
Lenovo ThinkVision P27UL-40 Potential productivity option to watch Tom’s Guide reported its announcement at IFA 2026 as a 27-inch 4K OLED Thunderbolt productivity monitor. Lenovo’s stated targets are 99% DCI-P3, 100% sRGB, and 500 nits HDR brightness; these are manufacturer targets, not independent measurements. Treat it as announced until retail availability, final specifications, and reviews are confirmed in your region.

RTINGS’ candidate details and ratings are in its 27-inch monitor guide. For gaming-focused alternatives, see PC Gamer’s gaming monitor coverage; for the announced Lenovo display, see Tom’s Guide’s monitor coverage.

Choose resolution and refresh rate for your computer

4K for finer detail and text

At 27 inches, 4K provides more pixels than QHD, making it a strong fit when fine detail and text clarity matter. It is offered by several models in the shortlist, including the ASUS, Acer, and Dell options. The benefit depends on your scaling preferences and the source device’s ability to drive the resolution at the refresh rate you want.

QHD for a lighter gaming workload

QHD, also called 1440p, is a common choice for gaming-focused 27-inch monitors. It asks the computer to render fewer pixels than 4K, which can make high refresh gaming more achievable, although actual performance depends on the game and hardware. The AOC Q27G3XMN is QHD; the MSI MPG 271QRX is 2560 × 1440 and 360 Hz according to PC Gamer.

Match refresh to the device and game

A monitor’s maximum refresh rate is not a guarantee that your PC or console will produce that frame rate. Check the output capabilities of your device, the ports used, and the games or applications you run. For the Acer, note that the cited 320 Hz mode is at 1080p, not 4K.

Choose a panel for your room and daily work

OLED and QD-OLED

OLED’s deep blacks can make games and video stand out, but the trade-offs matter on a desktop. RTINGS warns that prolonged exposure to the same static elements can pose burn-in risk and that the ASUS QD-OLED’s blacks can appear purple in bright rooms. PC Gamer also notes that current OLED monitors’ pixel density can be less ideal for crisp fonts and dense desktop use. If your work keeps toolbars, spreadsheets, or application windows in fixed positions for long periods, weigh those limitations against the image quality.

IPS and Mini LED

IPS models such as the Dell S2725QC offer a conventional LCD route to 4K desktop use, but that Dell has weak HDR and no local dimming according to RTINGS. Mini LED adds many dimming zones behind an LCD panel; on the AOC Q27G3XMN, RTINGS cites bright highlights and useful glare fighting, while also noting dark-scene smearing. Do not assume the Mini LED label alone guarantees a particular HDR result: consider the specific monitor’s observed performance.

Check laptop ports and charging before buying

A USB-C connector does not by itself establish that a monitor can replace a dock. Verify USB-C video support, the charging wattage, hub ports, KVM features, and Thunderbolt if your setup requires it. RTINGS reports up to 90 W USB-C power delivery for the Acer Nitro XV275K P5biipruzx and up to 65 W for the Dell S2725QC. Compare those figures with your laptop’s power needs, and check the exact regional SKU and included connections.

A practical way to make the final choice

  1. Start with the main job. Choose whether the monitor is primarily for office work, competitive gaming, console play, editing, or mixed use.
  2. Set a resolution and refresh target. Decide whether 4K detail or QHD’s lower pixel load better suits your work and hardware; confirm your device can drive the combination you want.
  3. Account for room light and static content. Consider OLED’s image strengths alongside its static-image risk and bright-room black appearance; for Mini LED, account for the AOC’s noted dark-scene smearing.
  4. List required connections. Check the exact model’s video inputs, USB-C charging wattage, hub, KVM, and Thunderbolt needs against your laptop or desktop.
  5. Verify local details. Before purchase, confirm the regional SKU, current stock and price, warranty, stand adjustments, and mounting compatibility. Product availability and specifications can vary by market.
