For a smooth scalp, Men’s Health named the Freebird Flexseries its best overall pick; for adjustable buzz-cut lengths, it chose the Remington Shortcut Pro. The right choice depends on whether you want a close shave, short stubble, or a fade—not simply on how many shaving heads a device has.
The six picks below are Men’s Health’s editor-tested, expert-approved selections, published September 30, 2026. Their features and test observations are attributed to that publication; they are not independent test results from iTechGuides. [Men’s Health]
How to choose a head shaver
Start with the finish you want. A rotary head shaver is aimed at a close scalp shave; a clipper kit is better for keeping some length; and a foil shaver can suit very short hair and fade cleanup. No single tool is best for all three jobs.
- Hair length and finish: Men’s Health advises that dry shaving works best when hair is already short—around no more than a couple of days’ growth. Longer growth may call for trimming first. This is editorial guidance, not a guarantee for every hair type or device.
- Wet or dry use: Check whether the exact model is rated for wet use before taking it into the shower or using it with shaving products. “Waterproof” and “wet/dry” claims are model-specific.
- Comfort and control: Flexible heads and a secure grip can help with scalp contours, but a more aggressive foil may irritate sensitive skin. Use light pressure and stop if you experience discomfort.
- Upkeep: Check how the shaver is cleaned, how it charges, and whether replacement heads are available. Battery runtime is a manufacturer or publication specification, not a promise of identical use time for every person.
Head count alone does not establish how powerful or close a shaver will be. Compare the design and intended finish as well as the stated features. [Men’s Health buying guidance]
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The six Men’s Health picks
| Pick | Best suited to | Reported features | Trade-off to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freebird The Flexseries Electric Head Shaver | Best overall; a dedicated scalp shaver | Five ScalpSafe heads; wet/dry use; 90-minute battery life; precision trimmer and pre-shave exfoliation brush attachments | Travel case is sold separately. Its palm-style shape is less convenient for face trimming. |
| Remington Balder Pro Head Shaver | Ease of use | Five heads; wet/dry operation; 50-minute battery life; hair-capture chamber and nonslip grip | It is designed for head shaving and has no extra attachments. Some testers found it needed frequent charging. |
| Remington Shortcut Pro Self-Haircut Kit | Adjustable buzz cuts or stubble | Interchangeable combs and multiple length options; cordless use; 40-minute battery life | It is not wet/dry and does not shave as close as the other picks. Its curved form may make detailed work around the ears and neck harder. |
| Braun Series 9 Pro+ Electric Shaver | Luxury multipurpose use | Men’s Health reports four shaving heads, 60-minute battery life, wet use, a SmartCare station, and a pre-shave ProComfort head attachment | This is a foil face shaver, not a dedicated head shaver. Bundle contents vary. |
| Andis ProFoil Lithium Plus Titanium Foil Shaver | Skin fades and neck cleanup | Men’s Health reports 80-minute runtime and effective cleanup on very short hair | Hair needs to be very short; the shave can feel aggressive, especially to beginners. |
| Manscaped The Dome Shaver Pro | Most powerful, according to Men’s Health’s pick | Five heads; 9,500 RPM motor; USB-C charging; waterproofing; up to 90 minutes of battery life | Men’s Health testers found the power button awkwardly placed. |

What to know about each pick
Freebird Flexseries: best overall
Choose the Flexseries if you want a dedicated head-shaving tool with several included functions. Men’s Health describes five ScalpSafe heads, wet/dry use, and 90 minutes of battery life, plus a precision trimmer and pre-shave exfoliation brush. The publication says it works with shaving products, but its palm-style body is less practical for trimming the face. The travel case is a separate purchase. [Men’s Health]

Remington Balder Pro: easiest to use
The Balder Pro is the straightforward choice if you want a head-specific rotary shaver rather than a kit of attachments. Its hair-capture chamber and nonslip grip are among the features Men’s Health highlights. The publication says its testers, after using it for more than a year, could shave a head in under five minutes; that timing is the publication’s test observation, not a guaranteed result. Some testers also said it needed frequent charging. [Men’s Health]
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Remington Shortcut Pro: most versatile for keeping length
This curved, cordless kit is the option among the six for someone who wants to choose a buzz length or keep stubble instead of shaving down to a smooth finish. Its combs provide multiple length options, but Men’s Health says it does not get as close as the other picks. It is not wet/dry, and the curved shape may be less precise around the ears and neck. [Men’s Health]
Rank #3
- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Braun Series 9 Pro+: best luxury multipurpose option
The Braun is a foil face shaver that Men’s Health also found effective on the head; it is not designed specifically as a head shaver. The roundup reports four shaving heads and a 60-minute battery life, and describes wet use, a SmartCare station, and a pre-shave ProComfort head attachment. Separately, Braun’s current U.S. Series 9 Pro product page describes five synchronized shaving elements and wet/dry waterproof use. Those are different descriptions: the editorial review’s head count should not be confused with Braun’s count of cutting elements. Packages differ in whether they include a cleaning center or PowerCase, so check the exact bundle. [Men’s Health; Braun]
Andis ProFoil: best for fades
The ProFoil is better suited to finishing a fade or cleaning up the neck than to shaving longer scalp hair. Men’s Health says it works effectively when hair is very short, but warns that the shave can feel aggressive, particularly for beginners. The publication suggests lotion or moisturizer afterward to help reduce potential irritation. [Men’s Health]

Manscaped The Dome Shaver Pro: most powerful
Men’s Health reports five heads, a 9,500 RPM motor, USB-C charging, waterproofing, and up to 90 minutes of battery life. Its testers liked the grip and ease of cleanup but found the power button awkwardly placed. Treat these as the publication’s reported specifications and observations; the article’s pick label is not an independently established comparison of motor performance. [Men’s Health]
How these picks compare with other roundup choices
There is no single consensus winner across grooming publications. Men’s Journal made a different set of picks: Philips Norelco Head Shaver Pro 9000 overall, Dollar Shave Club’s manual/electric head shaver as its budget choice, Manscaped The Dome Shaver Pro as best electric, HeadBlade MOTO as best manual, and Braun Series 9 PRO+ as its waterproof pick. These are that publication’s selections, not replacements for Men’s Health’s six picks. [Men’s Journal]

If you are considering the Philips Norelco 9000 as an alternative, Philips’ current U.S. product page lists 36 ComfortCut blades, 125 hair-density readings per second, a 360-degree flexing head, up to 90 minutes’ runtime, and a one-hour full charge. Philips also states that a five-minute quick charge is enough for one shave. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent comparative test results. [Philips product page]
Maintenance and buying checks
Confirm the exact model and bundle
Names and packages can be similar while included accessories differ. Braun’s U.S. page, for example, lists Series 9 Pro packages with different cleaning-center and PowerCase inclusions. Confirm the model number, wet/dry rating, charger, attachments, and case in the listing for the product you intend to buy. [Braun]
Plan for replacement heads
Philips Norelco’s current U.S. head-shaver guidance recommends replacing head-shaver heads every six months. That interval is Philips’ recommendation; check support guidance for the precise model you own before ordering parts. Philips’ current U.S. warranty guidance describes a two-year warranty plus a three-year extension after registration within 90 days, subject to the applicable model and terms. Verify those terms for the exact product and purchase. [Philips head replacement guidance; Philips warranty guidance]
