The 2026 MSI Stealth 16 AI+ replaces per-key RGB lighting with four-zone RGB in the listed configurations. It has not lost RGB altogether: the change is that you can no longer control the lighting key by key. The comparison is configuration-specific, so check the exact model and market before assuming the same keyboard applies to every Stealth 16.
What feature changed in the 2026 Stealth 16?
MSI’s US specifications show a change in keyboard-lighting granularity between listed configurations. The 2025 Stealth 16 AI A2HW page describes qualifying configurations as “SteelSeries per-Key RGB with Anti-Ghost key (99 Key).” The 2026 Stealth 16 AI+ B3W page lists a “4-Zone RGB Gaming Keyboard with Copilot Key.” MSI notes that features can vary by model and region, and the 2025 page does not show per-key RGB for every configuration.
In practical terms, per-key RGB lets you assign colors or effects to individual keys. Four-zone RGB groups keys into larger lighting areas, so customization is less precise. The 2026 keyboard still has RGB lighting; what the listed specifications show it losing is per-key control. See MSI’s 2025 A2HW specifications and 2026 B3W specifications.

The keyboard is only one part of a broader redesign. MSI describes the 2026 Stealth 16 AI+ as having a full-aluminum chassis, a 90Wh battery, and two memory slots and two SSD slots. Its listed connections include USB-A, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1 and RJ-45 LAN. The 2025 US A2HW specifications list a 99.9Wh battery for the configurations shown. Those capacity figures describe the respective listed generations, not battery life: runtime depends on configuration and workload.
#1 Best Overall
- AI Built-in: The AMD Ryzen AI 9HX 370 processor is first in their class to deliver AI experiences that paves the way for AI-infused computing applications and assistants like Copilot with over 50 NPU TOPS
- Power Your Passion: Intuitive navigation with faster performance, Windows 11 Pro is perfect for at home use or running a business.
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070Ti Laptop GPU
- QHD+ OLED Display: The 16” 240Hz display delivers fast refresh rate for better immersive experience.
- Wireless Reimagined: Stream high-quality video, or downloading large files in less time with the latest Wi-Fi 7 network speed. Accomplish your tasks at breathtaking speeds.
Display and performance details also depend on the exact SKU. Tom’s Guide’s January 2026 CES hands-on report described a 16-inch, 2560 × 1600 OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate, an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H, and graphics options up to an RTX 5090. That early report is not proof that every maximum configuration became a retail SKU. Check the local product listing for what is actually available.
MSI says its upgraded Cooler Boost system, with Intra Flow and multi-directional exhaust, can deliver up to 20W more power to RTX 50-series GPUs. That is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently measured result. Tom’s Guide’s May 2026 review and TechRadar’s May 2026 review discuss reviewed units; their findings should not be treated as results for every configuration.
What does the lighting change mean for buyers?
- You customize individual keys: The listed 2025 A2HW configuration offers more granular control. Confirm the exact SKU, since the older page does not establish per-key RGB across all variants.
- You use lighting mainly for visibility or broad effects: Four-zone RGB may be sufficient, and the 2026 model retains RGB lighting.
- You are comparing laptops, not just keyboards: Compare the exact regional SKU’s graphics processor and power settings, CPU, display, memory, storage, battery, dimensions, weight and price. A different configuration can matter more to your needs than the lighting change.
Does MSI describe the 2026 model as thinner and lighter?
MSI characterizes the new design as thinner and lighter than the previous generation, while Tom’s Guide described its reviewed 2026 unit as heftier than previous models. These descriptions may refer to different configurations or comparison methods; neither establishes a universal weight comparison for every SKU. Compare the listed dimensions and weight for the specific models available in your region.

Before buying, use the regional product page or retailer listing to confirm the keyboard, display, processor, GPU, memory and storage configuration. MSI cautions that specifications, functions, appearance and availability can vary by model and market. Prices and inventory also change, so a review’s reported starting price is not a reliable current price for every configuration.
For the specification labels and redesign details, consult MSI’s CES 2026 announcement. Tom’s Guide’s CES hands-on report provides an early view of announced configurations, while its later review reports results for the unit it tested.
