If you’re shopping for a new five-cylinder car in the United States, the current model supported by Audi’s U.S. lineup is the 2026 Audi RS 3 sedan. It has a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine. Calling it the only one is best understood as a snapshot of the current U.S. market—not a claim based on an exhaustive census of every automaker.

Why does Audi still use a five-cylinder engine?
The engine has a long history in the brand: Audi says its five-cylinder debuted in the second-generation Audi 100 in 1976. Audi describes the RS 3’s 2.5 TFSI as a continuation of that tradition. Audi says the Dynamic plus package includes an electronically limited 180 mph top track speed, ceramic front brakes with red calipers, ultra-high-performance summer tires, and a carbon engine cover. The top-speed figure is not a recommendation for public-road driving. Audi announced a global run of 750 RS 3 competition limited examples in 2026. That figure describes the worldwide edition, not a confirmed U.S. allocation.
