Texaryn is designed to let a single JSON Schema drive forms rendered through React, Vue, or Web Components. Its framework-neutral runtime handles form state and validation, while each binding supplies the framework-specific rendering. That makes it a potential fit when you want shared form behavior across interfaces—but its pre-1.0 status, integration requirements, and gaps around custom validation and some schema features matter before you adopt it.

How Texaryn shares a form across frameworks

Texaryn separates schema interpretation and form behavior from rendering. Its JSON Schema adapter reads a schema and produces a projection; the framework-neutral core turns that projection into a UI document and manages values, validation, dirty and touched state, visibility, disabled state, submission, and array identity. React, Vue, and Web Components bindings render the runtime through registries and widgets.

In principle, you can use the same schema and runtime model with any of those bindings rather than maintaining three separate form definitions. The binding still determines the integration details and available widgets, so a shared schema does not mean every framework has identical presentation options.

Hamza Hamidi, the library’s author, describes the core this way: “The core has no dependencies at all, and the UI definition is data: no generated JavaScript and no eval().” This is the author’s description of the design, not an independent security audit.

Supported JSON Schema dialects and validation behavior

The adapter is described as supporting Draft 7, Draft 2019-09, and Draft 2020-12. Draft 4 and Draft 6 are unsupported. If a schema omits $schema or specifies an unrecognized dialect, Texaryn falls back to Draft 7 unless you set defaultDialect.

Hamidi reports results against mandatory tests from the JSON Schema Test Suite at revision f6fd52a. These are the author’s reported counts, not independent test results:

Dialect Mandatory tests passed
Draft 7 917 of 929
Draft 2019-09 1,244 of 1,261
Draft 2020-12 1,278 of 1,301

The author attributes the mandatory failures to external schema resolution expected at http://localhost:1234. The adapter has no resolver hook, so unresolved references fail validation. These suite results concern validation behavior; they do not show which schema keywords Texaryn turns into form controls.

Format validation varies by dialect: Draft 7 format is asserted, including when $schema is absent, while Draft 2019-09 and Draft 2020-12 formats are not asserted. The article reports no option to change this behavior.

Schema features that may change your implementation

  • Remote and dynamic references: Remote $ref, $dynamicRef, and $recursiveRef are out of scope. External references that require resolution will fail as validation errors.
  • Tuple arrays and object properties: Tuple arrays, patternProperties, and additionalProperties do not produce the indicated dedicated fields.
  • Conditional schema branches: For oneOf and anyOf, the selected branch is inferred from current data; there is no branch picker for users.
  • Defaults: Schema defaults do not populate form data automatically. Pass initialization: 'schema-defaults' when creating the runtime if you want that behavior.

These constraints are most consequential when your schema relies on dynamic references, represents tuples, permits arbitrary extra properties, or expects users to choose between alternatives. Check the actual schema shapes you need to render, not just whether the dialect is listed as supported.

Framework and build requirements

The published integration examples use these minimum framework versions and package format:

Binding Framework requirement Module/build consideration
React React 18 or later ES modules only; examples use top-level await
Vue Vue 3.5 or later ES modules only; examples use top-level await
Web Components Not stated ES modules only; examples use top-level await

The examples create the adapter with top-level await, so your build target must support it; es2022 is given as one example. Verify the requirements against the package versions and framework versions in your own application before integrating.

Package versions and upgrade risk

Texaryn was pre-1.0 in Hamidi’s article published September 24, 2026. The article’s example package versions are @texaryn/core 0.12.1, @texaryn/schema-json 0.6.3, @texaryn/react 0.5.2, @texaryn/vue 0.4.2, and @texaryn/web-components 0.4.1. These are dated examples, not a live check of current registry versions. Hamidi advises pinning exact versions while the project is pre-1.0; reassess compatibility before upgrading.

Validation, widgets, and embedding boundaries

The adapter’s validation is schema-based. Hamidi’s comparison says there is “no equivalent yet” for custom validators, asynchronous validators, or server errors added after validation. If your form workflow depends on those capabilities, confirm that the version you plan to use has an acceptable way to supply them before committing to the integration.

Widget availability also differs by binding: Bootstrap 5 and Material UI widget sets are available for React only, according to the article. Do not assume those widget sets are available in Vue or Web Components.

The Web Component renders its own <form novalidate> in light DOM. It cannot be nested inside another form, does not use Shadow DOM, and does not implement form-associated custom-element behavior through formAssociated or ElementInternals. When configuring an element already in the page, set options before port; options set afterward are ignored.

How to decide whether Texaryn fits

  • Choose it for evaluation if the value of sharing schema-driven behavior across React, Vue, and Web Components outweighs the need to manage framework-specific rendering and widgets.
  • Check dialect and validation semantics first if your schemas use Draft 4 or 6, rely on non-Draft-7 format assertion, or require external reference resolution.
  • Prototype your hardest schema if it uses tuples, dynamic references, extra object properties, or user-selected oneOf/anyOf branches.
  • Verify the interaction model if you need custom or asynchronous validation, server-returned errors, non-React widget sets, or nested/standards-integrated Web Component forms.
  • Confirm package compatibility against your framework and build target, and pin exact package versions while the project remains pre-1.0.
