British Brooks missed practice during the Texans’ Week 4 preparation with a reported hamstring injury. Houston listed the running back as a Wednesday nonparticipant, and an October 1 report said he also missed Thursday. The later, decisive update: the Texans placed Brooks on Reserve/Injured on October 2, 2026. The team’s transaction notice did not provide a return timetable.
Why did British Brooks miss practice?
The Texans listed Brooks with a hamstring injury and marked him as did not participate (DNP) on Wednesday in their Week 4 injury report. CBS Sports/RotoWire reported on October 1 that he also did not practice Thursday, making it two missed practices to open the week.
The NFL’s Week 4 report also records a DNP for Brooks, but its displayed row does not name an injury. The Texans’ report is the source that attributes his absence to a hamstring issue.
Is British Brooks playing this week?
The question was overtaken by Houston’s October 2 transaction: the Texans placed Brooks on Reserve/Injured. The team did not state an expected return date or provide a more detailed diagnosis in that notice, so the available information does not establish when he might return.

What did the practice report say about the Texans’ offense?
Before the Reserve/Injured move, CBS Sports/RotoWire assessed that Brooks’s absence would not change Houston’s offensive approach if he could not play Sunday. That was the outlet’s analysis, not an official statement from the Texans. The subsequent transaction notice confirms Brooks’s roster status but does not describe any effect on the team’s offensive plans.
