No. Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair is ruled out for the Week 4, 2026 game against the Dallas Cowboys with a groin injury. The designation applies to this matchup; it does not establish when he will return.
Why is Azeez Al-Shaair out?
The Texans’ Week 4 injury report, published September 30, 2026, lists Al-Shaair as a linebacker with a groin injury. The Cowboys’ report also lists the groin injury and gives him a final game status of OUT. Houston defines “Out” as a player who “will not play.”
What was his practice status?
Al-Shaair did not participate in practice Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, according to the Cowboys’ Week 4 report. Houston’s initial Wednesday report likewise listed him as DNP, meaning “Did not participate in practice.” DNP describes practice participation; the separate OUT designation confirms he will not play in this game. The NFL’s Week 4 injury report also listed him as not participating, though its available listing does not show a final game status.
What is known about his return?
On October 2, CBS Sports reported that head coach DeMeco Ryans described Al-Shaair as “week-to-week.” That is a general outlook, not a confirmed return date or a statement that he will miss a particular number of games. The official OUT designation addresses only the Cowboys matchup.
