Texas Tech tight end Terrance Carter was expected to play against Colorado in Week 5, according to an October 2, 2026 report. That is a pregame expectation—not confirmation that he played or a prediction of his production.
What is Carter’s status for Week 5?
RotoWire’s October 2 report said Carter was expected to play in Texas Tech’s scheduled October 3 game at Colorado, attributing the update to On3 reporter Pete Nakos. It followed Carter’s absence from the Red Raiders’ game against Sam Houston. The report does not establish his final game-day status.
Colorado’s official 2026 schedule listed the matchup at Folsom Field in Boulder for Saturday, October 3, with a scheduled 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
What injury information was reported?
The October 2 RotoWire item described Carter’s issue as shoulder-related. An earlier Red Raider Sports / On3 report relayed head coach Joey McGuire’s comments after the Houston game: Carter’s surgically repaired foot felt good, while an AC sprain was the concern before the Sam Houston game. McGuire said Carter would be a game-time decision for that earlier matchup: “He’s got an AC sprain, so that’s really the concern going into this week.” These are dated updates, not a definitive diagnosis or a new medical assessment.

Red Raider Sports / On3 reported on September 26 that Carter was not expected to play against Sam Houston and had five catches for 62 yards in 2026 to that point. RotoWire’s later Week 5 item noted that he had two catches on three targets for 34 yards against Houston in Week 3.
For context, Texas Tech Athletics lists Carter as a fifth-year tight end from Killeen, Texas. The school’s player bio records 55 receptions for 624 yards and five touchdowns in 2025, and identifies him as the leading returning tight end for receiving yards entering 2026.

What the update does—and does not—tell you
- It supports the wording “expected to play” as of October 2, rather than a confirmed Week 5 appearance.
- It does not establish how much Carter would play or what he would produce against Colorado.
- RotoWire characterized Colorado’s defense as having a poor start to 2026, but the cited report does not provide a defensive ranking or quantified statistic.
