Tenki is a Rust terminal clock that overlays animated weather effects on a large digital display. Its documented effects are rain, snow and meteors, with an option to turn effects off. You can install it from its Git repository with Cargo, build it from source, or use the Arch User Repository (AUR) on Arch Linux.
What Tenki does
Tenki is a terminal clock built with ratatui, a Rust library for terminal user interfaces. The project describes it as a “tty-clock with weather effect”; its name, 天気, means “weather” in Japanese. It is a small command-line application rather than a desktop clock with a graphical settings panel.
The repository documents rain, snow and meteor effects, as well as a mode with effects disabled. Rain is the default effect. The clock also has a DVD timer mode, an FPS readout and a blinking timer colon.

Install Tenki
Choose one of the three installation paths documented in the official Tenki repository. Cargo and building from source require a Rust toolchain; the AUR option is for Arch Linux users.

Install from the Git repository with Cargo
If Cargo is installed, run:
cargo install --git https://github.com/ckaznable/tenki.gitThis asks Cargo to fetch and install Tenki from the project’s Git repository. The README does not identify a release number, so this command should not be mistaken for installing a specified version.
Build from source
With Rust installed, clone the project and use its Makefile targets:

make installThe repository documents make build followed by make install. It does not specify a destination or explain how to configure the installation path, so check the Makefile and your environment if you need to control where the executable is installed.

Tenki’s README documents settings for the effect, timer behavior, color, animation speed and wind. The effect-level range is 4 to 1000; the project says lower values produce stronger effects. The documented defaults for both frames per second and ticks per second are 60.
