The Nothing Phone (4a) comes with a pre-applied screen protector, but Nothing does not identify that supplied protector as tempered glass. A T3 reviewer described it as plastic and reported scratches after two weeks of use. If you want to replace it, choose between film and tempered glass by checking exact Phone (4a) fit and fingerprint-reader compatibility first; there is no published comparison establishing which replacement performs better on this model.
What comes on the Nothing Phone (4a)?
Nothing’s box-contents listing says the Phone (4a) includes a pre-applied screen protector and a protective case. The case is therefore optional as a replacement purchase unless you want a different style or condition.
Do not confuse the protector with the phone’s front glass. Nothing’s UK product page describes tempered glass on the front and back of the handset. Separately, T3’s review, published April 15, 2026, identifies the factory-fitted screen protector as plastic and says the reviewer noticed scratches during two weeks of use. That is one reviewer’s observation, not a controlled durability test or a comparison of replacement protectors.

How film and tempered glass differ as replacement choices
Neither option has been validated in a published comparison for the Nothing Phone (4a). The distinctions below are general decision factors, not measured results for protectors fitted to this phone.

How to choose a replacement without guessing
- Confirm the exact model. The product listing should explicitly say Nothing Phone (4a), not Phone (4a) Pro or a different Nothing model.
- Check fit and coverage. Review the listing’s compatibility details and diagrams, and confirm it covers the display area you intend to protect.
- Verify fingerprint support. Look for an explicit statement about the Phone (4a) fingerprint reader. If the listing is unclear, ask the seller before buying; a general claim that a protector supports fingerprint unlocking is not model-specific proof.
- Assess the trade-offs you care about. Compare the seller’s claims about scratch or impact resistance, clarity, glare, surface feel, installation materials, and the number of protectors included. Treat those as claims unless backed by model-specific testing.
- Decide whether replacement is necessary. If the pre-applied protector is still in good condition and works for you, the evidence does not establish a need to replace it. If visible wear bothers you, a correctly fitted replacement is a reasonable option.
What is and is not established
Nothing’s support page lists handset dimensions of 163.8 mm high, 77.45 mm wide, and 8.55 mm deep. Those measurements describe the phone, but they do not establish a protector’s cut, coverage, or compatibility. No authoritative Phone (4a)-specific testing was found comparing film with tempered glass, and no specific replacement listing was verified. Base your purchase on exact-model fit and explicit fingerprint support rather than assuming either material will work better.
