TELUS launched SmartEnergy for Good in Ontario on March 30, 2026, offering qualifying low-income residents a subsidized package of energy-management tools and professional installation. The company says SmartEnergy subscribers may save up to 15% on energy bills, but that is not a guaranteed or independently verified saving for this program. TELUS has not published the program’s participant price or full eligibility rules in its launch announcement.
What SmartEnergy for Good includes
TELUS describes the offer as a monthly SmartEnergy subscription bundled with equipment and installation:
- A rental smart thermostat
- Two energy-monitoring plugs
- Professional installation
- A subsidized cost, although the launch announcement does not give the amount
The announcement does not specify contract terms or explain the enrollment process. Confirm those details and current availability directly with TELUS before applying.
Who qualifies for TELUS SmartEnergy for Good?
The program is intended for qualifying low-income Ontario residents. TELUS specifically names seniors, families, and youth aging out of government care, but its March 30, 2026 announcement does not publish income thresholds or complete qualification rules. The groups named are examples of the intended audience, not a full eligibility test.

Ask TELUS what documentation is required and whether your household qualifies. Do not assume that eligibility for another Ontario energy program automatically qualifies you for this offer.
How much could it save on energy bills?
TELUS says SmartEnergy subscribers can save up to 15% on energy bills by using measures such as automated thermostat settings and powering down unused devices. This is TELUS’s maximum potential-savings claim for its SmartEnergy service; the launch announcement does not provide a SmartEnergy for Good-specific average, guarantee, or independent evaluation. Actual results will depend on household energy use and how the tools are used.

Ontario residents may also be eligible for government energy-efficiency upgrades or a monthly electricity-bill credit. These are distinct benefits with separate eligibility rules; applying to one does not establish eligibility for another.

Don’t confuse this offer with older SmartEnergy terms
TELUS’s September 18, 2024 announcement for its general SmartEnergy service cited a $12 monthly price and a limited-time offer for a thermostat plus two plugs for $25. Those historical terms are not the announced price or promotion for SmartEnergy for Good and should not be used to estimate what an Ontario participant will pay.
