The TECO TPO35CFWET is a 3.5kW portable air conditioner that cools, but does not heat. TECO lists fan, dehumidifying and AUTO modes alongside cooling; none is a heating mode. Its published specifications describe a feature-rich unit, but the public independent-review information available does not reveal measured cooling, noise or energy scores. Check the exact model, exhaust setup and local availability before buying.
What the TPO35CFWET is—and is not
TECO Australia identifies the TPO35CFWET (EAN 9346998006916) as a portable, cooling-only air conditioner with a rated cooling capacity of 3.5kW. It also has fan, dehumidifying and AUTO modes. If you need reverse-cycle heating, this is the wrong model: TECO separately lists the TPO35HFWET, which is rated at 3.5kW cooling and 3.2kW heating. TECO’s TPO35CFWET product page and its range listing distinguish the two models.
TECO describes the unit as suitable for medium to large rooms, but the public product information does not establish a verified room-area recommendation. Cooling capacity alone cannot confirm how well it will perform in a particular space; room layout, heat load, insulation and installation also matter.
TECO’s published specifications
The figures below are specifications published by TECO Australia, not independent measurements. Input power and capacity figures are different kinds of ratings: the 3.5kW figure is cooling capacity, while 1345W is listed cooling input power.

These numbers help identify the model and plan for its power, space and noise characteristics. They do not establish actual electricity costs, cooling speed or sound level in a particular room. TECO’s page calls the product an “efficient” cooling solution, but that is manufacturer wording rather than independent validation.
Features and installation requirements
TECO lists Wi-Fi control through the Smart Life app, LED controls, a remote, sleep mode, a washable filter, casters and a 24-hour timer. The stated modes are cooling, fan, dehumidifying and AUTO. These are manufacturer-listed features; they are not evidence of independently tested performance.

The product includes a window kit and a 1.5m exhaust duct. As with portable air conditioners generally, hot air must be exhausted outside through the duct and window kit for cooling to work as intended. Before purchase, check the window opening and kit arrangement against your own window; the product page does not establish fit for every window or compatibility with third-party replacement kits. TECO’s maintenance advice also calls for proper ventilation and drainage. The product page does not identify a replacement-kit part number.
What independent review information is public?

It also marks the model discontinued. The public page displays $899, but that is a page listing, not confirmation of a current retail price or offer.

CHOICE hides its expert rating, cooling and energy-efficiency scores, high-fan noise result, detailed pros and cons, and recommendation behind member access. Those results cannot be inferred from the visible specifications. The public page names Matthew Steen as Director of Reviews and Testing but provides no accessible quotation from him about this model. Accordingly, there is no public basis here to claim a particular CHOICE verdict or measured performance result.
TECO’s product page calls the unit “Most Loved Portable Air Conditioner” by the 2026 Finder Awards. That is a claim displayed by the manufacturer; the consulted product information does not establish Finder’s award methodology or independently validate the claim.

How to decide whether it fits your needs
- Confirm that cooling-only is enough. The TPO35CFWET does not provide heating. TECO lists the TPO35HFWET as a separate reverse-cycle option if heating is required.
- Assess the room beyond the kW rating. TECO describes the unit for medium to large rooms, but no verified room-size figure or public independent room-performance score is available in the cited pages. Avoid treating capacity as a guaranteed room-area match.
- Plan the exhaust route. You need a suitable window arrangement for the included 1.5m duct and window kit. Verify the installation dimensions before ordering.
- Consider noise and energy evidence carefully. TECO lists 64dB(A) sound power and 1345W cooling input power; these are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results or a prediction of your bill. CHOICE’s measured noise and energy scores are not publicly visible.
- Compare like with like. TECO lists the TPO26CFWAO at 2.6kW cooling, the TPO35CFWET at 3.5kW cooling, the TPO35HFWET at 3.5kW cooling plus 3.2kW heating, the TPO41CFWUDT at 4.1kW cooling, and the TPO42CVWAH at 4.23kW nominal cooling with a listed 2.9–4.5kW range. The range page establishes these alternatives, not their comparative real-world performance. Consider independently tested room performance, heating needs, comparable noise and energy results, footprint, weight, installation and warranty when comparing models. See TECO’s portable air conditioner range.
Price and availability
Current stock, a live price and Amazon availability for the exact TPO35CFWET have not been confirmed in the cited product and review pages. CHOICE’s discontinued label makes it particularly important to check that a seller is offering this exact cool-only model—not the similarly named TPO35HFWET—and to verify seller, local warranty and return terms. Treat CHOICE’s displayed $899 as a listing on its page, not a current quote.
