Tearscape pairs a retro, top-down adventure with Soulslike combat and exploration. That makes “Bloodborne as a Zelda-like” a useful shorthand, but not a literal crossover—and the blend comes with a reported control drawback: one reviewer found the controls slow and stiff.
What is Tearscape?
Tearscape is an indie action-adventure whose presentation draws on classic The Legend of Zelda games while its combat and exploration take cues from Soulslike titles. In a March 2025 interview, solo developer Tudor Prodan described the look and feel as reminiscent of classic Zelda, with influences from Dark Souls and Bloodborne and a heavier emphasis on combat and exploration. Abilities connect combat, puzzles, and traversal
According to JOLRN, abilities are not just tools for fighting. Firearms can activate distant levers, while bombs, charged attacks, and other abilities can help with progression. That dual role gives exploration and combat a shared toolkit: an ability that helps in a fight may also interact with a mechanism or open a path.
