TDK says its B3272*A/G/T DC-link film capacitor family can operate continuously at case temperatures up to +135 °C, with no derating required up to +105 °C. That is a manufacturer-stated rating with defined application conditions—not a guarantee that any part will meet every design’s electrical, thermal, or mechanical requirements.
What TDK’s +135 °C rating means
In its September 30, 2026 announcement, TDK Corporation says the capacitors are “qualified for continuous operation at case temperatures of up to +135 °C, with no derating required up to +105 °C.” The stated temperature is the capacitor’s case temperature, not ambient temperature or a general operating-temperature guarantee for the whole assembly. The +105 °C statement describes the range up to which TDK says derating is not required; it does not remove the need to check the exact part’s datasheet and application conditions.
This is a manufacturer qualification, not an independent comparative test. TDK also specifies a useful life of 100,000 hours at rated voltage and +85 °C. That figure applies to the stated voltage and temperature conditions; it should not be extrapolated to a different voltage or temperature.

What the B3272*A/G/T family is
The B3272*A/G/T series is a family of DC-link film capacitors using TDK’s EPN dielectric blend of polypropylene (PP) and cyclic olefin copolymer (COC). TDK says this dielectric has already been proven in its ModCap UHP power capacitors.
TDK identifies on-board charging units, xEV traction inverters, automotive DC-DC converters, industrial drives, and high-end power supplies as intended applications. These are examples for this series, not a guarantee of suitability for every design in those categories.

How the published family options compare
The announcement describes 2-pin and 4-pin types and a low-profile version. Its family-level ranges illustrate the differences, but they do not identify every ordering code or establish every electrical limit. RMS current figures below are the maximum values TDK gives at +85 °C and 10 kHz.

How to select a DC-link capacitor
Start with the circuit and installation constraints, then compare exact ordering codes rather than choosing from the series name or a family-level range.
- Confirm voltage and capacitance. Match the required rated DC voltage, capacitance, and tolerance to the circuit. Do not infer a type’s voltage rating from another member of the family.
- Check current and frequency conditions. Compare RMS and pulse-current needs, and review ESR, ESL, and frequency conditions wherever the datasheet specifies them. The family RMS figures above are given at +85 °C and 10 kHz, so they are not interchangeable with ratings under other conditions.
- Evaluate thermal conditions. Use case temperature and the exact part’s operating limits and derating information. Account for the design’s real thermal environment rather than treating +135 °C as an ambient-temperature rating.
- Check fit and connections. Verify body dimensions, case height, lead spacing, pin arrangement, and the available board and enclosure space. A low-profile type may help with height constraints, but its electrical values must still fit the design.
- Review qualification and humidity requirements. Check the individual part’s AEC-Q200 status and humidity or THB conditions where relevant; do not assume family membership establishes them.
- Confirm sourcing details. Compare current cost and availability with a distributor or TDK sales channel. These vary over time and by seller.

Use those resources to locate the exact part data needed for an engineering decision.
