Most TCL soundbars pair automatically with the wireless subwoofer supplied with them: connect both units to power, turn on the soundbar, and give them time to connect. If that fails, use the pairing procedure for your exact model. TCL soundbars do not all use the same buttons or indicator behavior, so a generic manual-pairing sequence can make troubleshooting harder.
How to pair a TCL soundbar and subwoofer automatically
- Connect the soundbar and its included wireless subwoofer to working power outlets. Check that any power switch on the subwoofer is on.
- Turn on the soundbar and wait for the connection to establish. TCL advises against pressing PAIR while automatic pairing is underway for its S Series and Q Series systems. TCL S Series pairing guidance and TCL Q Series pairing guidance
- Check the subwoofer’s indicator. A solid light commonly indicates a successful connection, but the color and exact behavior vary by model. Follow the indicator description in your soundbar’s manual rather than assuming amber—or any particular color—is universal.
How to re-pair it manually
If automatic pairing does not work, find the model number on the soundbar or its label and open the instructions for that exact model. TCL documents different manual procedures across product lines, so do not assume that the PAIR button sequence for one model applies to another.
For example, TCL’s S Series support instructions describe holding the subwoofer’s PAIR button until its indicator flashes, then using the soundbar’s Right Arrow control. The Q Series instructions instead describe holding the subwoofer’s ON/OFF control until the indicator flashes before powering on the soundbar. The S55H quick-start guide uses a three-second hold on the subwoofer’s PAIR button and a ten-second hold on the soundbar’s pair/connect control. What to do if the subwoofer will not connect
Restart both units
Turn off the soundbar and unplug both the soundbar and subwoofer. Wait at least 60 seconds, reconnect them, turn on the soundbar, and allow automatic pairing to finish before attempting the model-specific manual steps. TCL S Series pairing guidance and TCL troubleshooting guidance
Move the subwoofer closer for setup
Distance and obstacles can disrupt the wireless connection. TCL’s S Series guidance suggests temporarily placing the subwoofer within approximately 10 feet of the soundbar. TCL UK advises a distance of no more than 3 meters (9.8 feet) and notes that being in different rooms or having physical obstructions can cause connection problems. Check power and the indicator
- Make sure the subwoofer’s power cable is firmly connected and the outlet works. Check its power switch, if it has one.
- Note whether the indicator is off, flashing, or solid; compare its behavior with the exact model’s instructions.
- If there is no indicator on a known-working outlet, or it keeps flashing without connecting, contact TCL support.
If it pairs but you hear no bass
A solid pairing indicator does not guarantee that every audio source will produce audible bass. Try content with clear low-frequency sound and check the soundbar’s bass or subwoofer level. TCL notes that some content may not contain much low-frequency information. If pairing appears successful but the subwoofer remains silent, contact TCL support. Do not assume that a subwoofer from another TCL soundbar system will work. TCL recommends using the subwoofer supplied with the soundbar unless another model is specifically listed as compatible; a different TCL subwoofer may not pair. When to contact TCL support
Escalate the issue if the subwoofer has no indicator on a working outlet, continues blinking without pairing, pairs but produces no sound after you check the audio and level, or repeatedly disconnects.
