The 65-inch TCL 65QM8L, a 2026 SQD-Mini LED 4K Google TV, was reported at $1,077.99 on Amazon on October 6, 2026—57% below its cited $2,499.99 launch-price reference. That is a dated deal report, not confirmation that the offer is still live. TCL’s own product page showed a different price, $1,399.99, when retrieved. Check the current Amazon listing before buying.
Which TCL TV was reported on sale?
The deal concerns the TCL 65QM8L, the 65-inch size of TCL’s 2026 QM8L series. TCL lists the series in 65-, 75-, 85-, and 98-inch sizes. It is a 4K UHD HDR smart TV with Google TV and SQD-Mini LED backlighting. TCL’s product page describes the company’s Deep Color and Enhanced Halo Control systems; those are manufacturer feature claims, not independent test findings.
What the reported deal price does—and does not—establish
A Lifehacker article dated October 6, 2026, reported an Amazon price of $1,077.99 against a $2,499.99 launch-price reference, which works out to about 57% off. A Slickdeals listing dated October 6 also reported $1,077.99 at Amazon. These are reports of the offer on that date; they do not establish today’s price, stock, seller, shipping terms, or whether a promotion remains active.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe prices shown elsewhere differ by source and timing. TCL’s official page displayed $1,399.99 alongside a crossed-through $2,499.99 reference when retrieved. TechRadar’s review described a $1,999.99 price at its publication time, which is historical context rather than a current offer. Do not treat either figure as confirmation of Amazon’s October 6 deal.

What makes the 65QM8L notable?
Gaming features
The October 6 deal article describes a native 144Hz refresh rate, variable refresh rate (VRR), and four HDMI 2.1 ports that accept 4K at 144Hz. RTINGS’ QM8L review independently supports the high-refresh-rate positioning and HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on all four HDMI inputs. If a particular console, PC, or feature matters to you, confirm the exact supported formats in the official specifications before purchase.
Bright-room and HDR claims
The same deal article says PCMag measured a peak brightness of 3,504 nits on the 65QM8L, while TCL advertises a 6,000-nit peak. The PCMag measurement is reported secondhand here, so it should not be read as an independently verified figure or a guarantee of brightness in every scene or picture mode. The model is listed with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support in the deal coverage and TCL product information.

Smart TV and built-in audio
The set runs Google TV. The deal article also highlights Gemini voice controls and Bang & Olufsen audio with Dolby Atmos. Its assessment is that the built-in sound may suit some viewers, while a dedicated surround setup can provide deeper bass and more directional effects. A soundbar or home-theater system is optional; no comparative audio test is established by the cited material.
How to decide whether to buy
- Verify the live offer: Open Amazon’s listing for model 65QM8L and check the current price, stock, seller, shipping, and promotion terms. The October 6 reports do not confirm that the deal remains available.
- Match the screen to the room: The reported offer is for the 65-inch model. TCL also lists 75-, 85-, and 98-inch versions, but the cited deal reports do not establish their prices.
- Prioritize the features you will use: The strongest documented fit is for buyers seeking a 4K set with high-refresh gaming capability, VRR, and HDMI 2.1 across four inputs. Confirm device-specific format support if it is essential.
- Set expectations for sound: Treat the built-in audio as a convenience, not a substitute for a dedicated system if deep bass or convincing surround effects are priorities.
How strong are the ratings behind “highly rated”?
The October 6 article reports that CNET scored the TV 8.8 out of 10 and that the reviewer called it the best TV they had tested in 2026. Because the underlying CNET review was not verified in the accessible material, treat the score and characterization as secondhand reporting rather than an independently checked rating.
