The TCL 65P7LS is a 65-inch 4K QLED television with Google TV, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG support, one HDMI 2.1 input and two HDMI 2.0 inputs. Its listed refresh rate is 60 Hz with a manufacturer feature labelled DLG 120. TCL’s own Australian listings are the main source for those details. No independent lab measurements of brightness, contrast, motion, viewing angle, sound or input lag were available when this was written, so this is a specification-led buyer’s guide rather than a performance verdict.

Which model this covers

This guide covers the 65-inch TCL 65P7LS sold in Australia, model 65P7LS. The 75-inch and 85-inch versions of the P7LS line are not the same product. TCL’s Australian listings say that features, specifications, certifications and sizes can vary by region and model and may change, so check the model number on the box or the retailer listing before you buy. Two details that differ at larger sizes are covered in the sound section below.

Key specifications at a glance

The table lists what TCL Australia publishes for the 65-inch model, along with the source and any qualification that applies.

Picture quality: what is claimed and what is not measured

The Australian product page describes TCL’s quantum-dot colour and processing features. The 93% DCI-P3 figure comes from TCL’s own laboratory, and TCL notes that results can change with test environment and standard. Treat it as a manufacturer claim. It tells you what TCL advertises, not how the panel performs in a living room.

The HDR support is listed on the specification sheet, so you can confirm that the set accepts Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG signals. What the set actually does with those signals (peak brightness, tone mapping, black levels, uniformity) has not been measured in any public source found for this guide. Public customer opinions on retailer pages can give a sense of owner satisfaction, but they are not instrumented testing.

Gaming: casual use versus high frame rates

For casual console or streaming-box gaming, the 65P7LS has the ports and HDR formats that most current consoles and players expect. The limit is on refresh rate. TCL lists 60 Hz, with DLG 120 as a separate feature label. The published sources do not show the set running a native 120 Hz signal at 4K, so do not buy it on the assumption of 120 Hz gaming at full resolution.

Input lag and response time have not been measured in any public source found for this guide, so this article makes no judgment on responsiveness. If fast competitive gaming matters to you, look for an independently tested result before you commit.

INSIGNIA 65-inch Class QF Series LED 4K UHD QLED Smart Fire TV with Alexa Voice Remote (NS65-UQFL26)
  • 4K UltraHD Resolution: Experience incredible detail with 4X resolution of 1080p Full HD TVs.
  • QLED: Quantum Dot Technology enhances brightness and color for vibrant, lifelike picture quality.
  • Direct LED Backlight: Enjoy uniform brightness and rich contrast for a vibrant, immersive viewing experience.
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR) with Dolby Vision: Enjoy enhanced contrast, accurate colors and fine details utilizing all the most advanced HDR formats.
  • Dolby Atmos Audio: Advanced spatial audio processing can be found in movies, TV shows, and video games.

Ports and connectivity

  • One HDMI 2.1 port: use this for the highest-bandwidth source you own. TCL’s sheet does not state which HDMI 2.1 features the port supports, so confirm them against the manual before relying on any specific feature.
  • Two HDMI 2.0 ports: suitable for a soundbar, set-top box or streaming device.
  • USB recording: the sheet lists USB PVR and pause live TV. Whether recording works depends on your broadcaster, the USB drive you use and the software on the set, so test it on your own signal before relying on it.

Sound

The 65-inch model uses a 2.0 speaker system. TCL’s product page lists the ONKYO 2.1 system for the 85-inch version, so do not assume the larger model’s audio applies here. The set lists Dolby Atmos support, but no public source describes how Atmos content sounds on a 2.0 setup, and no measured sound-quality result was available. If built-in audio is not enough for you, a soundbar is an optional upgrade rather than a requirement.

Wall mounting

The wall bracket is not included, so you will need a separate mount. Before buying one, check the VESA hole pattern, weight rating and any clearance requirements in the 65P7LS manual, and match them to the mount. Do not rely on a generic 65-inch label.

Warranty and support

TCL Australia’s support page lists a 36-month television warranty for this model, with documentation available on the same page. Warranty conditions and exclusions are set out in the linked terms, and those terms govern any claim. Keep your proof of purchase, since a retailer’s return window and the manufacturer’s warranty are separate.
