The TCL 65C6K is a 65-inch QD-Mini LED TV with a native 144Hz refresh rate and strong gaming features, making it a compelling option if its local price is competitive. Independent review findings point to vibrant colour, good detail and better-than-expected black levels, but picture flaws and a limited built-in soundstage mean it is not an automatic buy. Check the exact regional model and consider your room, gaming setup and audio expectations before deciding.
What the TCL 65C6K is
TCL lists the 65C6K as the 65-inch model in its European C6K QD-Mini LED range. Its published features include QLED colour, an HVA panel, AiPQ Pro processing, Onkyo 2.1-channel audio and a native 144Hz refresh rate. TCL advertises up to 512 dimming zones across the range; that is a range-level maximum, not a confirmed count for every size or market. TCL’s European C6K product page
Regional versions are not necessarily identical. The UK listing identifies the model as 65C6K-UK and specifies a matte HVA panel and a two-year warranty. Check the complete model code on the listing and the retailer’s warranty terms rather than assuming that every C6K sold worldwide has the same finish or coverage. TCL’s UK 65C6K-UK page

How good is the picture?
TechRadar’s 2025 review describes vivid colours, good detail and black levels that were stronger than expected for an affordable Mini LED TV. It also notes occasional black crush, some flatness and over-sharpness. Those issues matter if you are sensitive to shadow detail or prefer a restrained, natural image; TCL’s own halo-control and uniformity claims are manufacturer figures, not independent proof that these problems are absent.

The review’s benchmark measurements were taken on a 55-inch C6K sample, not the 65-inch model. In Filmmaker Mode, TechRadar measured 705 nits peak HDR brightness on a 10% white window and 586 nits full-screen. In Standard mode, it measured 984 nits peak on a 10% window and 706 nits full-screen. These are results for that sample and those picture modes, not guaranteed brightness figures for every 65C6K. TechRadar’s C6K review
Room conditions and the regional panel finish should factor into your choice. TCL’s UK listing specifies a matte panel, but that detail should not be applied to another region’s model without checking its own specification. TCL also says product specifications can change, and some features may require software updates. TCL UK specifications TCL Europe specifications

Gaming features and compatibility
Gaming is one of the 65C6K’s clearest strengths. TechRadar reports support for 4K at 144Hz, variable refresh rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), AMD FreeSync Premium and Dolby Vision gaming. TCL’s Australian specification sheet also lists ALLM, FreeSync Premium Pro and VRR up to 144Hz, plus a 288Hz mode limited to 2K resolution. Treat the latter as a lower-resolution mode, not 4K at 288Hz. TCL Australia’s C6K specification sheet TechRadar’s review
To get the signal your console or PC supports, confirm the exact regional SKU, use the TV’s game mode where required, and check the source device, cable and input configuration. Feature names alone do not guarantee that every combination of resolution, refresh rate, HDR format and VRR will work at once.

Built-in sound: capable, but not especially immersive
TCL specifies Onkyo 2.1-channel audio. Its Australian sheet rates the system at 2 × 10W plus 20W and lists Dolby Atmos, DTS Virtual:X and eARC. TechRadar found the sound clear and reasonably powerful, but reported a limited soundstage and inconsistent bass. If fuller, more cinematic sound is important to you, an eARC-compatible soundbar is a practical add-on; it is optional, not a requirement to use the TV. TCL Australia’s specification sheet TechRadar’s review
Mounting and warranty checks
TCL Australia’s specification sheet gives a 300 × 300 mm VESA mounting pattern and says the wall bracket is sold separately. It lists M6 × 16 mm screws, but regional hardware may differ. Before ordering a mount, verify the exact TV’s dimensions, weight, screw requirements and the mount’s supported load. Warranty coverage is also market-specific: TCL’s UK page lists two years for the 65C6K-UK, which should not be assumed for other countries. TCL Australia’s specification sheet TCL UK product page

Price and value
Value depends on the price and warranty available where you live. TechRadar recorded a UK launch-era price of £799 for the 65-inch model in its 2025 review. That is historical context, not a current price or a reliable guide to today’s offers. Compare the current local price with other TVs available at the same size and budget, and verify the seller’s exact model suffix and return policy.

Who should buy the TCL 65C6K?
- Consider it if you want a 65-inch Mini LED TV with high-refresh-rate gaming features and find it at a competitive local price.
- Look more closely at alternatives if accurate shadow detail, consistently natural processing or a wide, immersive built-in soundstage is a priority.
- Check the specific listing if matte-screen handling, warranty length, mounting details or a particular gaming signal path will determine your purchase.
TCL’s advertised halo-control and backlight-uniformity improvements are based on its own laboratory figures, with the company noting that results can vary by test environment or standard. They should not be read as independent measurements of the 65-inch TV. TCL Europe’s C6K page
