The TCL 65A300W is best understood as an art-first 65-inch 4K QLED television, not as a picture-quality leader. Its matte screen and framed design suit a living room where the TV should blend in, and its gaming specification includes VRR up to 144Hz. But independent testing found weak HDR brightness, gray-looking dark scenes and motion blur in fast action. It makes the most sense when its design is the priority and the local price is compelling.
What is the TCL 65A300W?
The 65A300W is TCL’s 65-inch art-style television. Depending on the market, TCL presents the A300W family under names including NXTVISION, NXTFRAME and NXTVISION A300W. RTINGS says TCL renamed the lineup from NXTFRAME QLED to NXTVISION QLED in 2025, so compare the model suffix and local specifications rather than assuming different names mean different televisions. (RTINGS review; TCL North America specifications; TCL UK product page)
For the US model, TCL lists 4K UHD resolution (3840 × 2160), QLED technology, edge-lit LED backlighting, a 120Hz panel with VRR up to 144Hz, Google TV, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG. It also lists Wi-Fi 5, Chromecast, AirPlay 2, four HDMI ports including one eARC port, and 20W built-in audio. These are US-market specifications, not a guarantee that every region’s package is identical. (TCL North America)

Regional differences matter beyond the name. TCL Australia’s sheet, for example, lists 64GB storage, DVB-T terrestrial broadcast compatibility, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, ALLM, VRR up to 144Hz and FreeSync Premium. TCL notes that specifications can change and that some features may require software updates. Check the support and specification page for the exact model sold where you live. How good is its picture for movies and TV?
Matte finish helps with direct reflections, not every bright-room problem
RTINGS found that the matte coating reduces the intensity of direct light sources, a useful trait if a window or lamp would otherwise reflect sharply on a glossy screen. The trade-off is that it diffuses ambient reflections across more of the display. In a bright room, blacks can look raised and colors less saturated; the coating should not be treated as glare-proofing. RTINGS also found SDR brightness insufficient to reliably overcome glare in bright conditions. (RTINGS review)
HDR and dark scenes are the main picture compromises
The set has no local dimming. RTINGS reports that dark scenes with bright highlights can look gray, and that HDR brightness is poor enough for HDR content to appear dimmer than the filmmaker intended. Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ format support therefore do not, on their own, mean the set can deliver a bright, high-impact HDR image. If cinematic contrast, deep blacks or vivid HDR highlights are central to your viewing, this is a significant drawback. (RTINGS review)

Upscaling is a plus; viewing angle is a limitation
RTINGS says the 65A300W upscales well and smooths heavily compressed, low-quality content effectively. It also reports image degradation at aggressive viewing angles, so picture consistency may suffer when viewers sit far off-center. For a wide seating arrangement, consider where the screen will be viewed from before choosing it. (RTINGS review)
Is the 65A300W good for gaming?
On paper, its gaming connections are appealing: TCL lists a 120Hz panel and VRR up to 144Hz, along with ALLM and FreeSync Premium in its regional specifications. RTINGS reports low input lag and modern connectivity, but also found slow pixel transitions that produce blur during fast action and a chroma 4:4:4 issue in Game Mode. A high refresh-rate or VRR specification is useful, but it does not eliminate motion-response or image-quality limitations. (TCL North America; TCL Australia; RTINGS review)

- AESTHETIC DESIGN: Inspired by Japanese minimalist aesthetics, the Toshiba G700S is designed to blend naturally into the home. By reimagining the TV as functional artwork, it transforms technology into a warm, balanced focal point within the living space

When not in use, your TV becomes a personalized gallery that fits right into your space
- ANTI-GLARE: Experience a screen surface that transforms harsh, direct light into a uniformly soft glow. Anti-Glare technology mitigates scattered and distracting glare, delivering a comfortable and stable viewing experience even in well-lit rooms. Enjoy less eye strain whether you're working, watching, or gaming
- ZERO GAP WALL-FIT: At just 1.2 inches thick, the TV keeps a slim, modern profile while mounting close to the wall for a clean, built‑in look. With a 97% screen‑to‑body ratio and an anti‑glare, paper‑like display, it cuts down reflections and visual noise—leaving you with nothing but an immersive picture that transforms your room into a gallery of light and shadow
- QLED COLOR: Toshiba's QLED Technology creates vivid, lifelike colors. It delivers enhanced and vibrant colors that remain realistic. Immerse yourself in an exciting and authentic watching experience, with every detail and nuance heightened
For casual play or a setup where VRR support matters, the feature set is worth considering. For fast competitive games, weigh the independently observed blur as well as refresh-rate support; for HDR gaming, the dim HDR performance is another caveat.
What are the art mode and design like?
The A300W’s central appeal is its art-TV presentation: a framed look and matte display intended to sit more naturally in a room than a conventional glossy television. TCL says its global A300 series offers more than 100,000 pre-generated AI artworks and can show art while the TV is off. The images are not generated in real time, according to TCL. RTINGS notes that the magnetic decorative frame can be knocked loose, so handle it with care when moving or adjusting the set. Frame options and included accessories vary by market. TCL’s UK page, for example, says a Dawn Birch magnetic frame and ultra-slim mount are included there, while alternate frames and stands are optional and may not be available in every country. Confirm the local box contents rather than assuming another region’s bundle applies. (RTINGS review; TCL UK)
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow does mounting work?
In the US, TCL lists the 65A300W as not VESA compatible and says it includes a proprietary flush mount. Its movable floor/table stand, model FSD85ART-O, is optional and sold separately. Do not buy an ordinary VESA mount on the assumption it will fit; confirm a compatible mounting solution for the exact model and market. (TCL North America mounting and stand details)

Who should buy the TCL 65A300W?
- Consider it if you specifically want a framed art-TV look, value a matte finish for reducing direct reflections, and find a good local price.
- Look elsewhere if you prioritize strong HDR brightness, dark-room contrast, bright-room punch or crisp motion in fast-paced content.
- Check before ordering if you need a particular stand, frame, tuner or mounting arrangement, because regional specifications and package contents differ.
RTINGS’ tested 65-inch sample supports a qualified recommendation for shoppers prioritizing art-TV styling, rather than a broad recommendation for home theater picture quality. (RTINGS review)
