The TCL 55C6L is a 55-inch QD-Mini LED television with 4K resolution, Google TV, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support, and four HDMI 2.1 inputs, according to TCL’s published specifications. As of October 2026, we did not find an independent hands-on review or measured performance results for this exact model, so this page separates what TCL claims from what has been verified, and explains what to check before you buy.
What the 55C6L is
The 55C6L belongs to TCL’s C6L QD-Mini LED series. TCL New Zealand lists 55-inch as an available C6L size, and TCL Electronics Australia publishes a specification sheet that names the 55C6L model directly. The two regional sources do not describe identical product pages, so treat the details below as Australian-market specifications unless a point is marked otherwise. The Australian sheet also states that specifications may change and that some features may require software updates.
Published specifications
The table below uses TCL Electronics Australia’s specification sheet (undated, accessed 2026) unless another source is named. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results.

Gaming features
TCL lists ALLM, FreeSync Premium Pro and variable refresh rate (VRR) for the C6L, with the Australian sheet giving a 144Hz figure, a VRR range of 48–288Hz, and a DLG 288Hz entry. TCL New Zealand’s product page describes 4K at 144Hz and 1080p at 288Hz, and says the 288Hz mode needs a supported mode plus a compatible device and compatible content.

Those figures are not fully separated by screen size in the published tables. Before you assume that every gaming number applies to the 55-inch set, confirm the mode in TCL’s manual or support material for your region. In practice, that means checking your console or PC output resolution and refresh rate, because the 288Hz figure is tied to a 1080p mode according to the New Zealand page.
Connectivity and audio
The four HDMI 2.1 inputs and HDMI eARC cover the usual setup of a games console, streaming device and soundbar. Eligible audio devices connected through eARC can receive Dolby Atmos or other high-bitrate formats, but you should check your soundbar’s own specification. The two USB ports (one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0) are listed for media playback and storage, and the optical output gives a wired digital audio route for older amplifiers or soundbars without eARC.
The built-in speakers are rated at two 10W outputs according to TCL. That is a modest figure for a 55-inch television, so a soundbar is a practical upgrade for many living rooms, though TCL does not state that one is required.

Mounting and installation
TCL says the C6L can be wall-mounted or placed on a stand. TCL New Zealand’s product wording reads: “For the slimmest wall fit, an ultra-slim wall mount is required (may be sold separately). Actual gap may vary depending on installation and wall conditions.” The Australian sheet confirms that the wall bracket is not included.

Before buying a mount, work through these steps:
- Find the VESA pattern for the 55-inch 55C6L in the model’s manual or on TCL’s official support pages. The size group table on the specification sheet does not make the 55-inch pattern unambiguous.
- Check the mount’s load rating against the television’s weight, which you can confirm from the manual or the box.
- If you want the flattest finish, choose an ultra-slim mount and measure the gap between the wall and the back of the panel after installation, since TCL notes the gap varies.
- If you are using a stand, measure the stand footprint against your furniture and check the stand clearance for a soundbar placed underneath.
What independent testing has not established
As of October 2026, we did not locate an independent review, lab measurement or long-term test of the 55C6L. That leaves several points open: measured peak brightness and contrast, the behaviour of local dimming under bright and dark content, blooming around bright objects on dark backgrounds, viewing angles, measured input lag in game modes, real-world HDR performance, and motion handling. Any statement about picture quality on this set should be treated as a manufacturer claim until a qualified source tests the exact model.
How to judge the 55C6L against other 55-inch TVs
- Price and warranty in your own region, checked on the day you buy.
- Independently measured brightness, contrast and blooming for the 55-inch model.
- Gaming input lag and VRR behaviour measured on the exact model, not just the advertised refresh rate.
- HDR format support, including whether your content source uses HDR10+ or Dolby Vision.
- HDMI version, eARC and USB connectivity against your existing devices.
- Operating system and app availability in your country.
- Stand or wall-mount requirements, including whether a bracket is sold separately.
The published specifications cover most of this list, but the performance and price items are where comparisons need outside data.
The Bottom Line
On published specifications, the TCL 55C6L is a feature-rich 55-inch 4K television with Google TV, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, four HDMI 2.1 inputs and an advertised 144Hz gaming mode. Its picture quality, brightness and input lag remain unverified by independent testing, so the spec sheet alone is not enough to recommend it as a value buy. Confirm local price, warranty and mount compatibility before ordering, and treat the 600 and 700 nit figures as unassigned until the original table is checked.
