The TCL 43C655 is a 43-inch 4K QLED television with Google TV and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ on the Australian model. It is not a native 120 Hz TV: a 2024 lineup report lists the 43-inch standard C655 at 60 Hz. The published feature list is promising for a compact TV, but specifications vary by market, and they do not establish how well an individual set performs in a room.
What is the TCL 43C655?
It is a 43-inch LCD television with a DLED backlight, 3840 × 2160 resolution and Quantum Dot technology. TCL’s Australian product sheet calls it a “43” QLED 4K Google TV” and lists Google TV, 32 GB of storage, Dolby Vision and HDR10+. These are published specifications for the Australian model, not independent performance measurements. TCL also notes that specifications can change and some features may require a software update. The name alone does not identify every regional configuration. TCL support has a 43C655 page for Ireland, while a UK listing may carry the suffix 43C655K. Check the complete model code and the documentation for the country where you are buying before relying on a port count, audio rating or physical measurement. No. AVForums’ 2024 TCL lineup overview says the 43-inch through 85-inch standard C655 models have a native 60 Hz refresh rate; it identifies the larger 98-inch model as the 120 Hz option. The same overview mentions “120 Hz Game Accelerator” in the standard range’s gaming feature set. That mode should not be confused with a native 120 Hz panel: based on this lineup source, the 43-inch model is a 60 Hz TV. AVForums’ 2024 TCL lineup overview

Is the TCL 43C655 good for gaming?
It has a gaming feature claim, but the refresh-rate distinction matters more if you are shopping for high-frame-rate play. The 43-inch standard C655’s published native rate is 60 Hz, so do not buy it expecting the panel itself to display a native 120 Hz signal. The lineup report does not establish the 43C655’s input lag, VRR or ALLM behavior, or performance in particular games.
For a console or PC setup, verify the exact regional model’s supported refresh rates and gaming features in its local manual or specification sheet. If native 120 Hz is a priority, compare against TVs whose exact 43-inch variant is documented as having a native 120 Hz panel. Do not transfer claims from the 98-inch C655 or the C655 Pro: AVForums describes differences between the standard and Pro ranges, including local dimming and speaker configuration.

What picture and HDR features are listed?
The Australian sheet lists Dolby Vision and HDR10+, as well as Quantum Dot Technology and Wide Colour Gamut. It gives typical brightness of 430 nits, a 5000:1 contrast ratio and a 9.5 ms gray-to-gray response time. These are manufacturer specifications for the Australian unit, not independently measured results; they should not be treated as guaranteed figures for every region or as a substitute for testing brightness, accuracy, uniformity or motion.
The Consumentenbond’s Dutch entry also identifies the 43C655 as a 2024 4K LCD-LED smart TV and lists Dolby Vision. Its detailed test grades are not available in the retrieved page content, so that entry does not provide a basis for a verdict on measured picture quality. Consumentenbond’s TCL 43C655 listing

How many HDMI and USB ports does it have?
The listed connections differ between the Australian and Dutch sources. Use the figures as market-specific listings rather than combining them into one universal specification:
| Source and market | HDMI | USB | Audio listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| TCL Australia specification sheet | 3 inputs; versions 2.0 and 2.1 are listed, with eARC | 1 USB 3.0 input | 2 × 15 W, two-channel system |
| Consumentenbond Dutch product entry | 3 inputs | 2 ports | 20 W total |
The Australian sheet also lists Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 and a headphone output. It does not assign a specific HDMI version to each individual input in the cited summary. Confirm the port labeling and local documentation if you need a particular HDMI capability, eARC connection or more than one USB port. The Dutch listing’s USB and audio figures conflict with the Australian sheet, so the actual unit and its regional documentation should settle what is included.

What are the sound and smart-TV features?
Google TV is the listed smart-TV platform, and the Australian specification sheet lists Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X support. The same sheet rates the two-channel sound system at 2 × 15 W, while the Dutch Consumentenbond entry states 20 W total. Those are conflicting market-specific published figures, not comparable independent sound tests; they do not establish loudness, clarity or bass quality in a room.

TCL Australia lists dimensions of 956 × 600 × 185 mm with the stand and 956 × 559 × 69.5 mm without it. It gives a VESA mounting pattern of 200 × 100 mm and says a wall bracket is not included. Before buying a mount or planning a cabinet, check the exact local unit’s dimensions, mounting pattern, screw requirements and package contents; do not assume the Australian measurements apply to every regional variant.
Is the TCL 43C655 worth considering?
On the published specifications, the 43C655 is a compact 4K QLED smart TV with Google TV and support for major HDR formats on the Australian model. Its 43-inch size may suit a bedroom, smaller room or secondary-screen setup. The key gaming caveat is that the 43-inch standard model is listed at 60 Hz native, not 120 Hz.
The available sources establish features and manufacturer figures, but not independent measurements of picture quality, motion handling, input lag or sound. For a buying decision, confirm the full model suffix and local specifications, then compare the delivered price, warranty, connectivity and verified performance of alternatives sold in your market. AVForums reported a historical UK launch price of £349 for the 43C655K in 2024; that is not a current price or an indication of present availability.
